Bolin lava bending made his character even better

This is why LoK was considered over hyped. The fight scenes and powers are great but story and character development wise isn’t all that .

We gays love him

remember how when Toph created metal bending, we literally were shown what was the process of for her to bend something she couldn't before? Yeah, that didn't happen here, Bolin was straight up just given this no questions asked

It was cool but that first ever time he did it was kinda stupid to me. Because he could have blocked off the lava using earth bending while forming a new path Incase it only slowed it down. And right their at that opening he could have made a whole ass platform

I think he eventually thought to himself, "if I can't bend the lava, I can at least bend the earth in the lava, and hopefully, we get to live to see another day." and then he went on to execute the riskiest bending without ever being taught how to and toph admired him for it

I like the idea of it being due to his fire and earthbender parents but that opens the door of other Hybrid Benders. Combustion Bending being Air and Fire makes sense but what about the other combos?

I always thought lava bending was a dangerous writing element. Like you cannot write a story of someone taking a glancing blow from lava, they have to either dodge, run, or die.

Almost All the Korra characters learn the rare sub- bending in 3 sec max. Terrible character development throughout

You can tell how he’s freaking out internally because he had no idea that would’ve worked. He’s realizing that he would’ve died had he not actually been a lavabender.

And it makes so much sense for him to be a lavabender because his parents were earth and fire benders

He was a greater bender than mako

It's good for Bolin, and is pretty cool, but it's actually symptomatic of what people hated about Korra. Bending just became a kind of magic that you can just do by willing it. No longer an art, really.

I mean wasnt his parents respectively fire and earth benders, if so that would kinda make a little sense why he could lava bend

It’s dumb. Cus he isn’t pulling oof any movements in order to bend, bros just flinging it like a basic superpower. Thats why atla was so appealing bruh

Remember when Toph invented metal bending and it was an extension of the ART of earth bending? Now you can just run forward and thrust your hands out like you’re using the force and lava will magically appear

But still he can't beat the MC Because the writer knows whom to win

"Lava bender"??? Whats next..."Steam Bender"? Fucking stupid! Earth is EARTH. So glad I never gave this show a chance...

i agree, but he should've learned it like how Toph learned metal bending. Realizing what he needs to do rather than just doing it all of a sudden with no explanation

Hated how the lava just comes from no where, its not even rubbing rocks until they melt it boom lava.

Ass pull no? I mean I get it but in the moment is not just pull something out of your butt to progress the story.

I love how he was throwing that shit around too lol he didn't give a FUCK lol

Lava bending is actually a rare sub-skill of earthbending, similar to how metalbending works. Not all earthbenders can metalbend, and not all can lavabend—they’re just different specializations. Bolin happens to have a natural affinity for lava bending instead of metal.

I love how they foreshadowed it too, Bolin the extremely talented earth bender but couldn’t metal bend at all. Then we learn it’s cus his affinity was for something much different, Lava 🌋

This is where the writers had an idea and worked their way backwards. Bolin having lava bending is fine and makes sense. His bending is different due to his special training. It's just contrived because he had other options here. The reveal isn't interesting, just a plot device.

Being able to stop it kinda makes sense because lava has earth in it, but actually creating lava would require adding fire to it which an earth bender shouldn’t be able to do

Why does he do that instead of earth bending a wall or a path outside away of the lavas path. If he couldn't lava bend he looks like a big fucking idiot which he is

Cause once he learned that, he was locked tf in!

Korra is the Buu saga of Dragon Ball Z. Everything that was achieved via hard work previously is now given to characters like candy. Toph created metal bending due to her skills as a remarkable earthbender. Borlin is a Lava Bender now because FUCK YOU

Can't imagine what if scenario the lava refuse to bend 😂

toph bashed her hands against metal over and over again, slowly figuring out how to metal bend. Bolin pulled lava bending out of his ass and rivaled the red lotus guy. Are we fucking serious.

Yeah, the fanbase complains about legend of Korra Mostly for the last season , quite a bit, but I don't think many of us complain about Bolin except maybe his choice in partners

I’m curious, lava is molten rock, how is he able to cool it down without controlling the heat like what Roku did or am I just looking too much into this

OK, lava comes from waaayyyy too deep underground and this looks like hes controlling it from 2 inches under the ground. Granted I dont know avatar, but they dont MAKE the element they bend, right? They just control it? Where is it coming from?
