He turned his attention to what he called the “greatest cover-up in the history of the U.S. presidency”—and the journalist he believes was instrumental in making it happen: CNN’s Jake Tapper. Hanson began by pointing to the release of Original Sin, the new book co-authored by Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson. The book chronicles the internal Democratic scramble over Joe Biden’s declining mental state and the behind-the-scenes efforts to keep him in the 2024 race long past the point of plausibility. But for Hanson, the timing wasn’t just curious—it was damning. “We all have problems with this,” he said. “And it’s essentially Jake Tapper. It’s a coauthored book, but it’s Jake Tapper.” Tapper, he noted, isn’t just another reporter. “Jake Tapper is a CNN grandee, seven figure salary, kind of an iconic figure in this left wing media outlet.” Which made what came next, in Hanson’s view, all the more disingenuous.
