I literally can’t believe what I just watched Michigan is ranked 44th in 4th grade reading nationally and only 38% of 3rd graders are proficient in reading So lawmakers passed a new law. Now in schools students will be taught to sound out words…. This had been moved away from and instead students were being told to just use a different word if they didn’t know how to pronounce the word they were trying to read I can’t believe this is how low we’ve sunk as a country…… Teacher in Michigan explains how they have been teaching. “So if the sentence was, "We are meeting after school," and a student got to the word ‘meeting’ and they didn't know how to read the word ‘meeting,’ I might have said, "Use the words that you do know.” Whoever has done this to our education system needs to be locked up. This is clearly intentionally destroying our kids education
