The guys are training to master modern fighter jets, including F-16s and Gripens, and strengthen Ukraine’s combat aviation. We’re doing everything we can to protect our skies, and the key to that is having good, motivated pilots. We’re proud that Ukraine and our Armed Forces have a generation of young pilots like this. Today, I visited frontline positions at one of the most difficult areas of the frontline, in Robotyne, to speak with warriors in person and award those who have shown remarkable results in combat in recent weeks. I thanked them for their bravery and endurance in defending our positions and country. I also visited Zaporizhzhia, the East Air Force Command, and Kryvyi Rih. The primary focus was on defending our regions, people, social sphere, infrastructure, and industry from Russian air attacks. We are working to strengthen our ability to shoot down Russian missiles and drones. Our Air Force warriors and mobile air defense groups who counter Russian air terror deserve our gratitude and further strengthening. We are now in a new phase of development for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We have done a lot to transition the Ukrainian Air Force to a new aviation standard – Western combat aviation. From the beginning of this war, we have been talking with our partners about the need to close the Ukrainian sky from Russian missiles and aircraft. We have held hundreds of meetings and negotiations to strengthen the capabilities of our aviation, air defense, and Defense Forces. We often heard the word "impossible" in response, but we made possible what was our ambition, our defense need, and now – it is a reality in our sky. F-16s in Ukraine. We ensured this. I am proud of all our guys who are skillfully mastering these aircraft and have already started using them for our country. I thank our team for this result. We thank our pilots, air defense personnel, mobile fire groups, anti-aircraft gunners, radio engineering units, engineers, and everyone who does their part to make Ukraine stronger. Thousands of combat sorties, thousands of targets intercepted, and thanks to that, thousands of lives protected. Over the years of the war, our Air Force has grown significantly stronger. We have received modern combat aircraft and effective air defense systems. There are still not enough of these systems to protect our entire sky from Russian missiles, but today Ukraine's air shield is already one of the strongest in Europe. And that is thanks to the professionalism and experience of our warriors, who have proven it time and again by intercepting even the most challenging targets despite shortages of one type of equipment or another. I thank every man and woman who defends our skies and does everything every day to keep Ukrainians safe. And we will always honor the memory of all those who gave their lives defending Ukraine. Our kids live their childhoods under Russian attacks in shelters. We weren't able to protect all of Ukraine but we had the opportunity to use Patriot air defense systems in large cities to shoot down Russian missiles. These systems literally saved countless lives of Ukrainian civilians. And we are immensely grateful for that. If we don't get missiles for Patriot systems, it will be much, much harder to protect our people, our kids. Russia doesn't stop its attacks.
