Carlo Cipollo’s book, ‘The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity’ (1976) is an insightful piece. While stupidity is one of the biggest problems of the world, it is scarcely researched and taught about. We don’t understand it that much. Thus we are often left to wonder: ‘How can an intelligent person like X make such a stupid decision?’ ‘How can so and so support such a stupid agenda/idea?’ This video explains some of the basic 5 principles of Stupidity by Cipollo, for those who might not find or be able to read the book.

Oh come on President Donald J. Trump. The US can take a lot of credit for a lot of things, but trying to take credit for the Iron Dome is just so stupid. Overall I’m a fan, but just stop. The story of the feeding of the 5k is a treasure mine for analysis. It is the only miracle besides the resurrection of Jesus that is found in all 4 Gospels. This story allows us to read it across each account and check for corroborative or contradictory details, that would allow us to validate it as a historical event or identify it as a fraud. What we find then in this particular story is very helpful

At 4am this morning the EU voted to provide a €90 billion aid package to Ukraine. This is a significant step forward to ensure Ukraine is NOT forced to capitulate to an indicted war criminal and a US president who is complicit in attempts to see an ally nation handed to Russia. While I believe that they SHOULD have used Russian frozen assets to fund this loan, that option while left on the table for future use was not used. There is now an opportunity for Europe to really step up and help bring this war to an end to secure a just and lasting peace without Ukraine being extorted by Trump for its energy and rare earth resources. I believe this is the first step in the separation of Europe from the US in terms of the military partnership. The story of America is unmatched in human civilization. It is the story of undaunted courage, of a bloody independence, of a Republic on the brink, of rebuilding & restoring, of rights being secured, and of sacrifice & liberation of those in the old countries who have lost hope. It is the creation of a new, American, identity. An identity that since the founding of our country has been open to those who truly desire to be American and adopt a wholly new spirit of being an American as our ancestors did when arriving on the shores of this foreign land. Theodore Roosevelt, an inspirer of men and a believer in the soul of America and in calling his countrymen to the highest of callings which our founding documents and our faith demand of us, knew that adopting this new American identity was necessary to maintain the fabric of our republic. He knew that anyone “who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag.” As a defining characteristic, our American identity is second only to that of our faith. A message from Catherine, The Princess of Wales As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment. The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown. The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you. With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything. This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved. Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes. I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can. Despite all that has gone before I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life. William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time. Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly humbling. To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand.
