Another gold medal 🏆 472’ heifer with a fresh newborn. Very attentive to calf face to clear mucus and stimulating breathing. The coos establish audio imprinting of mother’s voice to newborn. This is perfect behavior for first calf cow. Excellent! Winning 🏆

This cow threw me over a gate the day after she calved! I can cuddle the rest of my cows. It’s a real shame because she looks fantastic and her calf is brilliant, but you can’t let one bad cow ruin the herd. A lesson for life and politics there.

🚨EXTREMELY URGENT 🚨 Waffles came to us six weeks ago as an orphan, after this mother was struck and killed by a car. We have been diligently bottle feeding and caring for Waffles for the last six weeks. He has been a bright spot in our days and we had hopes for this future.

After yesterday’s hardships, we were blessed with another baby Longhorn Bull calf! 🍼🐮💙 This little guy was born last night. You can still see his umbilical cord. But he’s lively and ready to join the herd. Happy Birthday little guy!

A milestone moment, in miniature form, for Makireti: Our ex-orphan has become a mum! On 2nd May, Makireti, and fellow wild-living orphans Kilabasi, and her calf Kofi, Tusuja, and Neshashi arrived at the Ithumba Stockades. This was clearly no ordinary visit: The group had returned to make an announcement, visible between mum's legs was her hours old calf. We have named him Makimaki, after a distant dwarf planet; a fitting name for the newest little planet in our expanding elephant galaxy. Makimaki’s arrival is not just a joyful moment — but a living symbol of the success of our Orphans’ Project and the generational impact of saving one life. Enjoy the full story at: #Family
