Poor little soul! 😱 Last night at 2am, the storm blew this sick little vixen into my garden. She is suffering from #mange and has lost almost all the fur from her brush. She has many bare patches and will be feeling very itchy, uncomfortable and thirsty. Because she has no more cosy brush to wrap around herself to keep her warm, she will be feeling cold. 😑 The worst thing about her situation is that she is pregnant, so if she does not get treated quickly, the parasitic mites that cause mange will not only spread all over her body and emaciate her, but they will also migrate onto her new-born cubs. The race is on against time to get her treated as soon as possible. On this day, 41 years ago, Peter Weir's "Witness" (1985) starring Harrison Ford & Kelly McGillis was released in the USA. Originally, there were 2 pages of dialogue for the final scene in 'Witness' (1985), but Peter Weir cut it, despite the insistence of the studio: "I got into a tricky spot with my first American film 'Witness' (1985). At the end of that movie, the police detective played by Harrison Ford is leaving the farm to go back to his life in Philadelphia and he goes to say goodbye to the Amish woman. Their romance is clearly not going to go anywhere. You see him driving away and passing the Amish man coming down the hill and you realize that she is going to have a life with him. Originally there were two pages of dialogue in which Harrison explained why he was leaving and she gave her feelings to him. It was very literal, and I cut it all because we didn’t need it. The producer told me that the studio would never accept it because we need to know what they are feeling. I knew that if I had done my job properly, you would know exactly how they were feeling by the time it was all cut together. They just look at each other. It’s hopeless, it’s beyond words. The executive from the studio, Jeffrey Katzenberg, who was at Paramount at the time, flew out to talk to me and suggested I shoot it both ways just in case. That seemed a waste of time to me so Jeff asked me to paint a picture in words for him and tell it like a story. So, over coffee in this restaurant in Lancaster Pennsylvania, I told him. Jordan Peterson on why imposter syndrome is not the problem you think it is: 1. feeling like an imposter is actually a marker of mental health and competence. the people who do not feel it are the narcissists. if you have any sense and you are not deluded about your abilities you will feel some version of this every time you level up. peterson says the absence of imposter syndrome should concern you more than its presence. 2. every time you move up you will feel like an imposter. that is not a flaw. it is accurate. when you first enter a new role you are a beginner. you do not know what you are doing yet. feeling like an imposter at that stage is not a sign of weakness. it is a sign that you have enough self awareness to recognize the gap between where you are and where you need to be. 3. admitting ignorance to competent people never goes badly. people are afraid to ask questions because they think they are the only one in the room who does not know. they are not. if you were paying attention and you had a question the probability that half the room had the same question is very high. you only have to ask a stupid question once. after that you are no longer stupid about it. 4. intellectual humility is endearing to people who are actually good at what they do. competent people are always asking questions too because they know how much they do not know. when they see you asking questions they do not think you are incompetent. they think you probably are competent. 5. there is a darker version of imposter syndrome called imposter adaptation. hedonic adaptation is where happiness resets after good things happen. imposter adaptation is where the feeling of being a fraud persists no matter how many times you disprove it. you keep succeeding. the feeling keeps returning. at some point you have to admit the feeling has nothing to do with your actual capacity and everything to do with an addiction to feeling like an imposter. 6. high neuroticism makes this significantly worse. neuroticism is sensitivity to threat and punishment. people high in this trait need more evidence to feel safe and competent. the calibration problem is nearly impossible. you wake up with an ache in your side. is it nothing or is it cancer. most of the time it is nothing. the neurotic brain cannot easily tell the difference and applies the same logic to professional competence. 7. the only treatment that actually works is voluntary exposure to the things you are afraid of. you keep facing challenges. you keep paying attention. you develop competence. the environment becomes more predictable. the evidence accumulates. the people around you build confidence in you and that confidence reflects back. there is no shortcut. that is the pathway.

I’m 55 years old. I own a multimillion dollar plastic resin distribution and resale business which I started in 2003. I started another business selling rugs and home goods. Why? I want to show my kids what is possible. I also want to inspire others with my actions and sharing them on this platform. I’m teaching my kids, and others the value of time. Time should be our #1 priority. If you work a 9-5, you are strapped to a desk, punching a clock, rushing to be there on time, negotiating for PTO, putting in your vacation time early to get the week you want. Just typing this gives me anxiety. I lived that life for 6 years in my late 20’s and one day, I just left. Gave my 2 weeks notice and had no idea what I was going to do. The day I walked out that door, my uncommon life started. For the past 23 years, I do what I want, when I want, for however long I want. I’ve attended every one of my kids games, doctors appointments, and school functions. I take 7 vacations/year and have the freedom to play golf anytime I want. People often asked me if I had a job 😏 when I’d be the only parent at my son’s college baseball game at 2pm on a Wednesday in the middle of Pennsylvania. Does this mean I don’t work hard? Quite the opposite. Technology has given me the ability to work anywhere. I’ve made deals on the beach, the golf course, at Disneyworld, at a dentist appointment, everywhere. Time has become my obsession and I want it to become yours. By the way, I run my plastic business with 3 employees. Myself, my wife and my son. You don’t need to scale to be successful. I’ve tried it. It sucks to manage drama everyday. We run lean and mean. Same for the new business. Our time is always the priority. If an idea interferes with my freedom, it doesn’t happen. Just my philosophy, you can disagree and have different priorities, but we only have so much time left on this earth and you really don’t NEED to feel strapped to a 9-5. You just need to take action. No action means no progress. It’s means nothing changes. You don’t need a 3000 sq. ft. house, 2 car payments, a Rolex, designer clothes, etc. Scale back and start valuing time. I’ll be teaching you how to live an uncommon life like me because I believe in Karma. #onelife

It’s not me in the video but this is what my life has been for over 5 years now. This year on Mother’s Day all 4 of my kids watched this happen to me in our kitchen. It was the first time they’d all seen my grand mal seizures. Up until the past few months they’ve usually occurred in my sleep. My children haven’t looked at me the same since. My seizures have become alarmingly frequent since the new year. An average of 2 or 3 grand mal seizures per week. So I recently took a long break from X to see if removing the stress would help. "Every time that happens, they need to find a new way of printing money in order to try and stimulate growth.
