So today in Parliament, I held the Minister to his words and asked him to name just one of these farmers. Unsurprisingly, he couldn’t. In the real world — having visited hundreds of farmers since the budget – this tax, and all the other changes are deeply unpopular and those who work day in, day out to feed our country know the sheer damage Labour will cause. 👇

Cows are environmentally sustainable. Methane from cows is part of the natural carbon cycle that after 10-12 years breaks down into natural CO2 and water. Grass absorbs the CO2 by photosynthesis and the cycle repeatedly continues. It’s time to end this bullshit propaganda based narrative that cows somehow destroy the planet. Farmers are facing huge pressures on a number of fronts and yet, governments are finding numerous ways to make their lives even more difficult. And that’s why farmers are protesting. It’s time for a fair deal for farmers. Farming should be right at the top of government prioritisation and support. Our food security and maintenance of the countryside depends on them. Stakeholders, government body’s from both sides of the house should hand their heads in shame as to the shit show farming is becoming. People WILL go out of business over this. Our colleagues will suffer and fall because of this. If your mate calls you to chat, pick the phone up no matter what you’re doing and just chat. Remember about all the good farming charity’s out there. FCN, RABI to name a few. Please share with MPs and associates. Please also speak up

Trump: I will not be abandoning the farmers. We are strong on the borders and for the farmers and others in the hotel industry. We have similar situations and Kristi and I will be working with the states and we will work something where the farmers and be responsible. They have had people around for 10 or 15 years and they know them well, we will put them responsible, and issue a form of card or documents and the farmer will be responsible for these people. They will not have citizenship but they will be working and paying taxes. We need to get our farmers the people they need or else the farmers will not be able to do their land. It was tried when there was a very strong guy, and he got everybody out, and every farm almost in the country but every farm in California or Iowa went bankrupt and they had nobody to work and we do not want that situation. We will put our farmers and others in charge of the people that they have under them. They know the people and it will work out well. We will take care of our farmer but to get the criminals out. Go ahead.

There is a time bomb ticking under British farming. If we go on as we are, we will literally run out of people to work the land. In Westminster, I'll be pushing for a concerted effort to get youngsters into farming - apprenticeships, training and so on. It's urgently needed.
