On Nov 1, 2025, Amaira, a Class 4 student, died by suicide after jumping from the fourth floor of the Neerja Modi School in Jaipur. She had been bullied for 18 months, with classmates targeting her using "bad words," many of which carried sexual undertones. However, her class teacher repeatedly dismissed complaints from both Amaira and her parents, telling them instead that she needed to adjust to the other kids. The teachers took the kids on a walk through White Center, Washington for the protest. Many areas there aren't particularly safe. Per the father, the school alleged that they gave the kids options if they wanted to go or not. They also claimed that it was the kids' choice to protest and that the teachers were just joining. Per the school's principal, both teachers and school security were in attendance. This violates Washington State law 28A.605.010, which prohibits children from being removed from school grounds during school hours without permission from the children's parents or legal guardian.
