Brad Pitt’s candid interview with Esquire this week somehow led me back to Moneyball. Maybe it’s the fact that we’re in the middle of baseball season & things are heating up or maybe it’s just the fact that this might be the best film Pitt has ever been a... show more

Moneyball has to be considered one of the best sports films of the 21st Century. This film gave us career-best performances from Brad Pitt & Jonah Hill, not to mention one of Philip Seymour Hoffman’s final roles. More than anything, Moneyball gave us moments like this.

Denis Villeneuve’s next film comes out in 321 days. Do you ever get hit with an epiphany during a regular day - like while walking your dog or doing groceries- and just think that Arrival is one of the best movies ever made? I will always listen to those who suggest Arrival is Villeneuve’s best film. I don’t see any flaws here. And I wrote about this earlier in January, but Arrival finds Amy Adams in the middle of unbelievable career run that featured films like Doubt, The Master and The Fighter. I think Arrival is the best out of all of them. If there’s one film I think could push against this as Denis’s best film, it’s Dune Part 2. Otherwise, Arrival has to be it.

Brad Pitt’s now 2 for 2 on sports films: F1 & Moneyball. Don’t ask me right now which film to pick between the two because I can’t do it. All I can do is say that Moneyball is still one of my favorite sports films ever & F1, after seeing it a second time, is rapidly approaching.

Brad Pitt turns 62 today, but in 2025, Pitt reminded us that age is just a number. F1 surely joins the inner circle of Brad’s best films. I love this movie & it’s one of the year’s biggest success stories. What’s next for Pitt? He’s back with Fincher as Cliff Booth. Let’s roll.

Stephen A. Smith says there’s never been a athlete in history be this good for this long like LeBron James: “Can we answer that question? Is there an athlete that has been this good for this long in history? I don’t know who it is. Maybe somebody gonna give me Sugar Ray Robinson, who I never saw fight. Maybe they’ll give me something like that. I don’t know of an athlete that has been this good this long. Michael Jordan is still my goat because Michael Jordan at his best I take any day against LeBron at his best. But that doesn’t mean that LeBron isn’t great and he isn’t on the Mount Rushmore of basketball. And when you think about sports overall, again, it’s a very simple question. At age 41, in his 23rd season, has there ever, ever, ever, ever been anybody this good for this long? The answer to that is no.” (Via Stephen A Smith)

I’m ready to Evolve…. I could be NeXT….. Or make an Impact… Maybe show the world I’m Elite… But you have all been a part of this journey with me that has been 10 years in the making so maybe it’s “Then, Now, Forever, Together”. 📑✍️ #SignIzzy

I’m going with Untitled (How Does It Feel) just off of the fact that this part might as well just be the peak of music

The fact that a majority of us ever considered and labeled this song as "Bad" or "Just Noise" has to be a crime like holy shit

Brad Pitt should own two Oscars by now- one for playing Cliff Booth & one for his performance here in Moneyball as Billy Beane. It’s probably the best acting Pitt’s ever done in his career because of the emotional nuance Pitt uses to humanize an obsessive, numbers-driven Beane.

Ari Aster on why he considers "Midsommar" (2019) to be a fairy tale: "I see the film as a fairy tale more than anything else. It does have a structure of a fairy tale. If you’re just looking at Dani’s trajectory, and she is the person we’re most aligned with, at the beginning she loses a family and at the end she gains one. Part of the fun of making this film was making a film that functioned for most of the visitors as a folk horror film, but for the [character] that we’re most joined to it’s something else. It ends up revealing itself as a perverse wish fulfillment fantasy. It’s doing two things at once. You could see this place as being a real lived-in place with a rich history and deep traditions, or you could watch the movie in a way that has this community function strictly as a manifestation of Dani’s will: they’re only here to provide her all of the needs she’s being denied." (Ari Aster's interview with A.E. Hunt, Filmmaker, 2019) P.S: On this day, 7 years ago, "Midsommar" (2019) premiered in Los Angeles, California.

Chernobyl is one of the best things HBO has ever done. Released in 2019, part of this limited-series’ appeal is the fact that we get to see Jared Harris and Stellan Skarsgård at the absolute top of their game. The storytelling here is ripping yet totally haunting. When I think of a perfect limited-series, I think of Chernobyl.

#Brazil and #Norway play in the World Cup today & it’s a great chance for me to highlight the fact that Brazilian Cinema has given me some of the best memories of my life. These films have changed me. Take a film like City of God, which chronicles a life of organized crime in Rio de Janeiro. It’s beautiful. It’s painful. It’s every reason why I love this country’s Cinema.
