Moneyball has to be considered one of the best sports films of the 21st Century. This film gave us career-best performances from Brad Pitt & Jonah Hill, not to mention one of Philip Seymour Hoffman’s final roles. More than anything, Moneyball gave us moments like this.

Denis Villeneuve’s next film comes out in 321 days. Do you ever get hit with an epiphany during a regular day - like while walking your dog or doing groceries- and just think that Arrival is one of the best movies ever made? I will always listen to those who suggest Arrival is Villeneuve’s best film. I don’t see any flaws here. And I wrote about this earlier in January, but Arrival finds Amy Adams in the middle of unbelievable career run that featured films like Doubt, The Master and The Fighter. I think Arrival is the best out of all of them. If there’s one film I think could push against this as Denis’s best film, it’s Dune Part 2. Otherwise, Arrival has to be it.

Chernobyl is one of the best things HBO has ever done. Released in 2019, part of this limited-series’ appeal is the fact that we get to see Jared Harris and Stellan Skarsgård at the absolute top of their game. These films have changed me. Take a film like City of God, which chronicles a life of organized crime in Rio de Janeiro. It’s beautiful. It’s painful. It’s every reason why I love this country’s Cinema.
