#WATCH | Delhi: On Long-Range Anti-Ship Hypersonic Missile, DRDO Chairman Samir V Kamat says, "We have carried out 2 development trials, we are soon going to do a third development trial. Once these development trials are over, we will offer it to the user for user evaluation trials. Then these missiles should get inducted. We are very confident with this system and it will be a gamechanger for our services...This will have much more capabilities than our current BrahMos missile because it travels much faster than what BrahMos can and it will have a much higher range. In simple terms, India gets real-time visibility into how China is moving and where its forces are positioned. Take Vietnam, for example. It sits right on China’s doorstep. Not because these countries are looking to start a fight, but because it strengthens their security posture. Diagonal delivery vs L shape delivery. When I got up to 95, all I thought about was getting as deep into my back leg as possible. When I made the jump to 98, what I did was get into that drop a lot quicker. Now as I train to throw 100, I’m starting to think about it differently. If I sink too deep into my back leg, I create more of a drop and drive delivery where I have to drop first and then create energy toward the target. Rather than having it happen at the same time. Where I’m going down and out at the same rate. That’s the most efficient way to create as much energy toward the target as possible. One of the big fixes I’ve made is dropping into the inside of my back foot. Rather than putting force into the whole foot. This prevents me from getting too deep because I can’t get into a squat position when I’m putting force into the inside of my back leg. It also helps me create more energy toward the target. When you put force into the inside of your back foot, you’ll naturally move forward more than you move down. We also have to look at the location. It is just happening after the visit of the US President to China. This is also an indication from the US that it is willing to repair ties with India, and Indo-Pacific remains an important area for them…this is one of the reasons why tomorrow's meeting is crucial. Experts said, India is using supersonic cruise missile, which can fly more than three times the speed of sound and hit the target. India has always been a consumer. We did very little production or manufacturing, which is why we remained dependent on others. One specific quality of the Modi government was that it weaponised India’s consumption. If we consume a huge amount of oil, then we also have the option to use that as leverage in negotiations. We can buy oil from those who are willing to buy something from us. Even if we cannot produce much today, we can do so tomorrow. But for that, someone has to make the first move. That is one of the reasons India started paying Russia for oil in Indian rupees—it created an opportunity to gradually supply Russia with Indian goods and services in return. Then, gradually, India also began manufacturing several Russian-origin weapons, including the BrahMos missile. Part of what India owed Russia for oil was effectively balanced through exports of defence equipment and manufacturing cooperation. We created production out of negotiations based on our consumption. That is what an aggressive foreign policy looks like. They should get the credit they deserve, and they should also be criticised for what they did not do well.
