Brainless is he who doesn’t know the difference between a private and public hospital. Brainless is he who doesn’t know that a “patron” is an honorary position and not a shareholding or decision making position that can allow one to usurp the powers of the board. Brainless is he...

President William Ruto was elected by the slimmest of margins a mere 200,000 votes separating him from Raila Odinga, who garnered over 7 million votes. He did not win by a landslide. He limped into office. And that razor-thin margin should have reminded him that he is not a tribal king, not a sectarian messiah, but a public servant of the Republic of Kenya accountable to all citizens, not just those who clapped the loudest during campaigns. In functioning democracies, elections yield winners and losers, but the moment a president is sworn in, he must discard the campaign hat and become a president for all not just his cronies, not just his tribesmen, not just the desperate sycophants who chant his name for tenders and handouts. The presidency is supposed to be the ultimate symbol of unity. But today, President Ruto spat in the face of that unity when he made reckless, discriminatory, and unconstitutional remarks to the Kamba community telling them that they can only receive development if they align themselves with his government. That statement, made publicly and deliberately, is not only dangerous, it is a direct betrayal of the spirit of the Constitution, which guarantees equal treatment for all Kenyans regardless of their political affiliation. This is the same man who walks into churches pretending to be a God-fearing unifier. The same man who promises women, teachers, and the youth that he’s here to uplift them. The same man who goes to Luo Nyanza to Siaya and Homa Bay claiming to build markets and roads because “they changed their minds.” Do you hear the mockery? Do you hear the conditions? Development, under Ruto, has become a reward for political submission not a right of citizenship. Today, he exposed what many feared all along: Ruto does not believe in democracy he believes in political blackmail. He doesn't build a nation he builds a cartel of loyalists. He doesn’t lead Kenya he commands a cult. And the hypocrisy is unbearable. This is the same man whose allies wanted to impeach Rigathi Gachagua for allegedly being tribal now look who’s openly threatening entire communities with economic starvation for daring to think differently. They screamed when Gachagua said Kenya was a company with shareholders. Now Ruto stands before the nation and essentially repeats the same garbage: "If you’re not with me, you’re not eating." What is the difference? Is this the man who claimed to be walking by faith? What kind of faith weaponizes development against communities? What kind of leadership uses power to punish, not serve? Kenya is not Ruto’s property. Kenya is not UDA’s private estate. Public resources are not campaign tools. Development is not a gift to be handed out like candy to obedient children. It is a constitutional obligation. Ruto has failed the integrity test. He has failed the unity test. He has failed the leadership test.
