BRAZEN BREAK-IN: Authorities are asking for help identifying a suspect accused of stealing thousands in luxury handbags, jewelry and cash from a California apartment. The man, dressed in construction gear, was captured on Ring camera fleeing the scene in a white pickup truck filled with tools.

This does not look like a luxury apartment I would expect someone to live in if they have luxury handbags and (inferred) expensive jewelry. He bypassed a lot of electronics that could easily bring in money. He left behind things the renter would have wanted to keep. I wonder if this is an insurance scam.

the ring camera caught him fleeing, sure, but the handbags and jewelry are already gone. cameras that just record don't prevent anything. real-time alerts on a live feed is the only thing that stops this mid-crime instead of after.
