One of the (many) significant air crashes of this date... May 25 2002: China Airlines Flight 611, a B-747, disintegrates in mid-air off Penghu Islands (Taiwan Strait). All 225 aboard die: deadliest crash in Taiwanese history. Investigation determined that the in-flight breakup was caused by metal fatigue cracks that originated from a tail strike at Kai Tak Airport on February 7, 1980. The aircraft was not repaired in accordance with Boeing policies and maintenance manuals. Over its 22-year service life, repeated pressurization cycles allowed these tiny cracks to propagate, resulting in the structural failure. Footage of the Air France Flight 4590 disaster. It was the only fatal Concorde flight, July 25, 2000. On this day 26 years ago, Air France Flight 4590 became the only Concorde ever lost in an accident, killing all 113 people on board and 4 on the ground, resulting in what is famously called "the crash that killed Concorde." Concorde had completed nearly 27 years of passenger service without a fatal accident. During takeoff from Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, Flight 4590 struck a titanium strip that had fallen from a Continental Airlines DC-10 minutes earlier. The debris burst a tire, whose fragments ruptured a fuel tank, causing a fire and the loss of two engines. Unable to climb, the aircraft crashed into a hotel less than two minutes after takeoff.

On approach, the jet went into a high angle of attack, and the pilots' correction attempts developed into an irrecoverable flat spin. Report pointed “erroneous actions of the crew" and was very critical of their actions. During the approach, the crew made incorrect control inputs on the yoke, leading to a loss of airspeed. Subsequent errors resulted in excessive back pressure on the controls, causing the aircraft to enter a corkscrew. 🇺🇸🇮🇶 U.S. AIR FORCE TANKER SPOTTED FLYING OVER THE PERSIAN GULF A U.S. Air Force KC 135 Stratotanker was spotted flying out of Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and moving through Persian Gulf and Iraqi airspace, according to public flight tracking data. A KC 135 is a refueling aircraft used to keep fighter jets and bombers in the air longer, not a combat plane itself. The flight quickly and began watching its route closely. On its own, a tanker flight is not unusual. These missions happen regularly. What caught attention is the timing. Source: Visioner

After about 35 minutes into the flight, the side panel of the plane came off, reportedly sucking out passengers’ belongings including phones. A small child reportedly had to be held down so they weren’t sucked out. The child, who was closest to the missing panel, lost his shirt and his skin turned red from the wind. “Following tonight’s event on Flight 1282, we have decided to take the precautionary step of temporarily grounding our fleet of 65 Boeing 737-9 aircraft,” Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci said.
