Horrific

Horrific Indeed 😔

This breaks my heart. Those poor people trapped like that. I live in a retirement community, and some of our residents would have a difficult time escaping their homes if there was a fire. Getting old is a blessing, aging sucks.

This is a devastating tragedy out of Fall River, Massachusetts. My heart goes out to the victims, their families, and the brave first responders risking everything to save lives amid the chaos. A nursing home should be a place of safety and care, not horror. Praying for those injured, mourning those lost, and hoping for answers as investigators work to uncover what caused this unimaginable loss. 🙏💔

A large fire broke out at an assisted living facility in Fall River late Sunday night, according to preliminary information from fire crews. Crews responded to the Gabriel House, an assisted living facility on Oliver Street, the Fall River firefighters union said around 10 p.m. There was “heavy fire,” crews said, and multiple rescues were in progress. The union shared updates on Facebook from Box 52, a Medford-based fire fighting enthusiast club, that reported that the fire was under control by 10:40 p.m. The post also said that an “MCI has been declared,” likely referring to a mass casualty incident. An MCI refers to a sudden surge of patients that overwhelms local healthcare providers. “Units will be tied up most of the night,” the post said. A live video shared on Facebook from the scene shows dozens of ambulances waiting for patients. Fall River Mayor Paul Coogan was also at the scene, the video showed. The fire has launched a huge response from firefighters and other first responders. Fire departments from nearby towns including Somerset, Swansea, and Portsmouth, Rhode Island responded to Fall River to assist the local department, the departments said. The assisted living facility, a nonprofit, has 100 units and opened in 1999, according to the state. An email sent to the facility was not returned Sunday evening. According to the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services, any family members seeking information can call 508-674-5741. If you go to St. Anne’s Hospital, you are asked to enter through the emergency department. The Fall River firefighters’ union confirmed its members were operating at a fire at the building and found heavy fire upon arrival. Fall River Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon said crews found people hanging out of the building needing rescue when they arrived shortly after 9:30 p.m. Sunday. He said multiple victims were rescued and taken to the hospital. In a press briefing just before 1 a.m. Monday, he could not provide an exact number of people injured or dead. Bacon said the state fire marshal will investigate the cause.

Oh no that is so sad 😭 I remember having those drills when I worked at a retirement home. A few people who were bed ridden would be the hardest to get out on time 😭

Holy fuck, it’s horrific, people in these houses are usually helpless.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for the victims of the Fall River fire. Comfort the families mourning, heal the injured, and guide the hands of every first responder. May truth be revealed and justice be served. Let Your mercy cover the broken, and may peace rise where there is chaos. Strengthen the community in this dark hour. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

The devil is real.

Omg! I used to live in Providence, not far. Sending prayers. This world man. 🥺🙏🏼
