That barge clearly had no reason to be in that location unless it's job was to collide with the bridge.

Engineers from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation conducted an inspection and found that the bridge pillars had sustained some damage, but nothing severe or major. Around two hours later, they determined that it was safe to reopen the bridge. Fortunately, no one was injured; only the barge sustained heavy damage to the front.

Galveston County Sheriff Jimmy Fullen confirms four people are dead after a Mexican military aircraft crashed into Galveston Bay on Monday while transporting burn patients. Eight people were on board, including two pilots. The plane had departed from Mexico and was on approach to Galveston, likely bound for Shriners Children's Hospital, when it went down in heavy fog near the causeway bridge. The Galveston Airport Director confirmed this aircraft typically comes into Galveston about half a dozen times a year, regularly transporting patients to local hospitals. Houston Transtar cameras showed thick fog blanketing the Galveston Causeway at the time of the crash.
