The Gulfstream G200 belonged to Aibonito Aviation LLC out of Puerto Rico. The crew reported engine loss right after takeoff, and sadly, both pilots lost their lives trying to make it back to the runway.

It’s unfortunate that the plane didn’t stay on the runway and skidded off. I believe the fire originated due to the bumps on the fuel tanks.

Reports point to possible engine failure or major mechanical/hydraulic issues. The pilots turned back for an emergency return. On final approach to runway 29, the aircraft came in hot, slammed hard onto the runway, wheels reportedly blew off on impact, bounced, skidded, and erupted into flames with thick black smoke visible for miles.
