The jet had just departed La Romana bound for Austin, Texas when the crew declared a severe emergency shortly after takeoff (around 16 nautical miles out). Reports point to possible engine failure or major mechanical/hydraulic issues. The pilots turned back for an emergency return. On final approach to runway 29, the aircraft came in hot, slammed hard onto the runway, wheels reportedly blew off on impact, bounced, skidded, and erupted into flames with thick black smoke visible for miles. Tragically, both the pilot and co-pilot were killed. There were no passengers on board. The aircraft was completely destroyed. Shocking video footage circulating online captures the horrifying moment — the jet hitting the runway violently before turning into a blazing inferno.
