Troops neutralise three suspected armed robbers in Kaduna By Zagazola Makama Troops of Operation Lafiyan Jama’a have neutralised three suspected armed robbers during an operation to recover weapons in Kaduna State. Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama on Wednesday that the incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday during a follow-up operation based on the confession of arrested suspects. According to the sources, the three suspects had earlier been arrested in connection with a series of armed robbery attacks and were assisting troops in investigations. During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to possessing arms and ammunition hidden in a forested location and offered to lead troops to the hideout. However, while en route to the location, the suspects allegedly attempted to escape by attacking a soldier and trying to snatch his weapon. The discovery comes after three persons among six suspects, who were arrested earlier last year in connection to the disappearance of a young man, led authorities to their secret ritual burial site. Investigations after the exhumation of the missing person’s body led to the discovery of four other bodies, including that of a child also buried in the area. The bodies were immediately exhumed and have been deposited with authorities for further examinations and possible identification of the victims, whilst the suspects returned into police custody.

Army Go Tough On IPOB, ESN Members In Ajali Forest The Nigerian Army have gone tough on members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Eastern Security Network, ESN, operating in South East Nigeria from the Ajali Forest and its environs. The military utilized intelligence reports on criminal and terrorist activities to storm the Ajali Forest, Ezeagu Local Government Area, Enugu State, in clearance operations. The Commanding Officer of the 103 Battalion, Major Muhammad Buhari Abdulrahman, disclosed that the operation was to clear members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IOPOB, the Eastern Security Network, ESN, and other criminal elements operating in the forest. The Commander noted that the forest was a hideout for criminals in the state. The Commanding Officer narrated that the operation began on December 30, 2025, and is ongoing. According to him, "So far, eight camps have been cleared, with improvised explosive devices safely detonated. "Troops also recovered arms and ammunition, including 197 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and arrested two suspected IPOB members who are currently in detention." He added that the operation has entered the clearing phase, with bulldozers deployed to open up the forest and deny criminals any hiding place, while securing the space for farming activities. Chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Area, Vita Ndoh, admitted that joint security operations, involving the military, police, and DSS was launched after reports that ESN members occupied large portions of forest, causing panic among residents. Ndoh said the operations ensured a peaceful festive period, with no cases of kidnapping or criminal attacks during the period. He commended the military for their professionalism, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.

FOUR SUSPECTS CHARGED, ONE WANTED, AND TWO SOUGHT FOLLOWING SPA ROBBERIES IN MARKHAM AND TORONTO Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit, working jointly with the Toronto Police Service Hold-Up Squad, have charged four suspects, have issued a warrant for one other suspect following an investigation into a series of spa robberies in Markham and Toronto. Police are also seeking two more suspects in this investigation. On November 23, 2024 at approximately 3:20 a.m., a spa in the area of Dufferin Street and Wilson Avenue in Toronto was robbed at gunpoint by three suspects. An hour later, at approximately 4:20 a.m., a second robbery occurred at a spa in the area of Birchmount Road and 14th Avenue in Markham. Three suspects forced their way into the business while armed with a firearm. They stole one of the victim’s vehicles and fled with a quantity of cash. In both incidents the suspects arrived in a stolen white Acura. On November 28, 2024, investigators located the stolen Acura and three suspects were taken into custody for possession of the stolen vehicle. On December 6, 2024, at approximately 1 a.m., a third armed robbery of a spa occurred in the area of Victoria Park Avenue and Steeles Avenue in Toronto. On December 8, 2024, two additional robberies were reported, one at approximately 3:20 a.m., in the area of Carlingview Drive and Renforth Drive, and the other at 3:45 a.m., in the area of Finch Avenue and Keele Street. In both incidents the suspects arrived at the scene in a stolen Toyota Highlander. On December 10, 2024, two search warrants were executed at residences in the City of Toronto with the assistance of the York Regional Police Emergency Response Unit. One suspect was taken into custody. A warrant has been issued for an additional suspect, and investigators are seeking to identify two other outstanding suspects. Investigators are releasing images of the adult suspects as they believe there are more victims. A list of suspects and their charges can be found here. During interrogation, the suspects claimed to be merchants and workers affiliated with QNet, an online marketing platform involved in the sale of various commodities. The arrested individuals comprise 18 nationals of Burkina Faso, 23 nationals of Côte d'Ivoire, 4 nationals of Togo and 1 national of Senegal. Among them are 36 males and 10 females. The suspects have since been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Ogun State Command, for further investigation and appropriate administrative action in accordance with extant laws. The Director-General of the Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Department has disclosed that a joint team from the CID and the Bank of Ghana, acting on intelligence, carried out an operation at key hotspots in Accra including Tudu, Circle, Airport, and Osu, known for illegal forex trading. The exercise led to the arrest of 29 suspects, including Togolese, Beninese, Nigerians, and Ghanaians, on Tuesday, 9th December 2025. VIDEO - AIR SUPPORT UNIT ASSISTS IN ARRESTS FOLLOWING JEWELRY STORE ROBBERY IN RICHMOND HILL Offices responded to a jewelry store robbery in the area of Yonge St and Levendale Rd in Richmond Hill yesterday, shortly after 3:30 p.m. Three suspects were seen using hammers to smash glass cases. A quantity of jewelry was stolen and the suspects fled in a silver SUV driven by a fourth suspect. One employee received minor injuries after being assaulted by one of the suspects. Using out Air Support Unit helicopter, Air2, the vehicle was located in the City of Toronto where the suspects fled but were quickly taken into custody. The vehicle used by the suspects was confirmed to be stolen. Of the four suspects charged, Marlando MITCHELL, 24 of Brampton, and the two youths, were out on a combined 10 release orders at the time of the incident. One of the youths was also on probation. “The teamwork demonstrated by York Regional Police is a testament to the professionalism and commitment our officers have in pursuing individuals who commit violent acts in our communities,” states Police Chief Jim MacSween. “Of the four suspects arrested, one adult and two youths were out on release orders. Motorcycles Stolen in Ado-Ekiti Recovered in Owo, Ondo state After Owner Tracks Down One of the Bikes. A motorcycle stolen in Ado Ekiti this morning was recovered in Owo, Ondo State, after the owner tracked it using a built-in location device, leading police to arrest some suspects while also recovering four stolen bikes in the process. According to an eyewitness, the bike belonging to a young man in Ado Ekiti was noticed missing around 6:00 a.m. today from a fenced compound in Falegan area of Ado Ekiti. The owner in turn activated the tracker and traced the motorcycle to Benin Garage in Akure. Tracking the signal further, the device pointed to a residence in Shasha area along Owo Road in Akure by 9:00 a.m. Upon getting the exact location of the stolen bike, The owner immediately reported the location to police, who proceeded to the address with him. At the scene, the police officers detained the landlord and the tenant occupying the room where the tracker indicated while a search of the locked room uncovered four motorcycles, including three with Ekiti registration plates and one with an Ondo plate. Two of the Ekiti bikes were identified as TUN-426QB and TUN-901QB. The third Ekiti plate number has not yet been confirmed. During the search, officers also found a locally made soap in the room. The intended use of the item remains unclear as of the time of filing this report. The arrested suspects were immediately taken into custody for further investigation and interrogation. The incident has renewed calls for motorcycle owners in Ekiti to install location trackers, amid a recent rise in reports of bike and vehicle thefts in the state.
