So funny. One of the first things I had Claude try was organizing my desktop files.

They basically built the Mac MCP I've been dreaming of. Running on a 24h Headless Mac mini with remote access.

I'll have to report back once complete, but so far, ive asked claude to clean up my desktop, and this is what it has proposed as its implementation plan. turning over 1500 loose files into ~10 items (organized folders) if this shit works well, im going to be pretty damn impressed.

Yeah, Anthropic shipping this before Google has a consumer agent is a notable gap. Especially given Google's head start on basically everything else.

Big step, but worth being precise: it’s a research preview (Max + macOS) with folder-scoped access and human-in-the-loop approvals—not “fully autonomous for everyone” yet. The real unlock is safe agent UX: scopes, checkpoints, and audit logs.

I use my CLI agentic coders for everything, not just coding. The missing piece of one chat bot that has access to my entire operating system and has a browser. We're not quite there yet. They'll need access to phone and email and all apps on computer as well.

Always ahead of my time, organized my files today with Claude Terminal CLI. Massive time saver on this one with a well documented report on storage and themes. Really great use case. If only it could access my folders stored on the Cloud!

Months of Figma exports sitting in Downloads. Generic names like "image (5).png". Complete mess. I asked Claude Cowork to organize my Adspirer assets. In 2 minutes it: → Visually identified every brand-related image → Created a logical folder structure → Renamed 36 files with descriptive names → Sorted by use case (logos, integrations, favicons, marketing) No timeframe given. No file naming conventions provided. It literally looked at each image and understood what it was. Is this normal 🤡

I was doing this before I had Claude Max. I used the desktop with Finder MCP tools and was able to reorganize my desktop folder.

Anthropic watched developers hack together workflows using their coding tools for mundane tasks, then productized that behavior before OpenAI could fully capitalize on Operator's launch momentum. What makes this especially notable is the macOS exclusivity. They're deliberately constraining initial distribution to manage risk and iterate faster, while their competitors are still figuring out how to balance capability with safety theater at scale.

While some of the pros are pretty obvious, there are some major cons. This thing has access to basically your entire life. Forget Privacey or IP. Who exactly will have access to this stuff.? The major loser I see in this would be outsourced assistants from India/ S Asia…

Are these actions undoable? Otherwise, it's a bit dangerous, IMHO.
