#Iran carried out a drone strike on #Azerbaijan - targeting the international airport in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Local media report that the drone, launched from Iranian territory, hit the airport building and exploded. Several pro-government media outlets are publishing the same statement: "Despite the good-neighborly relations that Azerbaijan has demonstrated toward Iran, the mullah regime has shown its true nature. Recall that Azerbaijan did not allow its territory to be used for military operations against Iran, yet it was attacked by Iran." In connection with the attack, schools in the vicinity of the airport have been evacuated.

🇦🇿 Video from the Azerbaijani airport hit by an Iranian drone Today drones attacked Nakhchivan — an Azerbaijani exclave separated from the country’s mainland by Armenia. The drones struck the airport and also fell near a school in the settlement of Shakarabad. Iran has not provided any clear explanations. In Azerbaijan officials said it plainly: this is an attack on the territory of the republic.

🇮🇷🇦🇿 Two drones struck Nakhichevan, Azerbaijan, hitting the terminal of Nakhichevan International Airport while another crashed near a school in the village of Shekarabad. Azerbaijani authorities report two civilians injured. Baku immediately blamed Iran and warned the attack would not go unanswered. However, Tehran denies responsibility for the strikes, saying Iran was not behind the drone attack on the Azerbaijani exclave. The airport itself is not purely civilian. It hosts military helicopters and drones, including Israeli-made Hermes-900 UAVs operated by Azerbaijan. For years, Iranian officials have warned that Israeli drones may be entering Iranian airspace through Azerbaijani territory, a concern repeatedly raised in Tehran. This explains why Nakhichevan could be viewed as a potential military target. The region sits directly on Iran’s border and is closely tied to Azerbaijan’s security cooperation with Israel and the United States, something Tehran has long regarded with suspicion. At the same time, opening a direct confrontation with Azerbaijan would be strategically risky for Iran, especially as the wider war with the U.S.-Israeli coalition expands across the region. A new northern front would clearly benefit Iran’s adversaries, who are already looking for ways to widen the conflict.

🇦🇿| Azerbaijan MFA: “We condemn the attacks that originated from Iran, which led to the injury of 2 people in Nakhchivan, and reserve the right to respond.” Azerbaijan has pointed fingers at Iran. But let’s not forget who gave Azerbaijan airspace permission to bomb Tehran. Anyways, footage shows moments when the airport was hit with a drone (the sound resembles a Shahed-136 drone).

Baku has ordered the evacuation of its embassy in Tehran, claiming that Iranian drones struck near the border. However, images from the scene show that the drones were actually produced by Baku itself. Ilham Aliyev sees the current situation as an opportune moment for adventurism
