According to reports, Rheinmetall Expal Munitions will act as a subcontractor for the American Global Military Products and will supply 155mm high-explosive fragmentation M107 shells and 105mm M1 shells to an unknown customer. The order is part of a larger US Army contract worth $640 million under the SAWS (Special Ammunitions and Weapons Systems) program, which allows the purchase of ammunition that has not undergone full classification by the US Army for use with non-American weapon platforms.
