We’ve spent the past week disconnecting illegal electricity connections in Pretoria West. We found this property where an illegal construction of dozens of residential rooms is underway. This building isn’t approved by the city for commercial use and is designated for single household occupancy. The man responsible for this project has previously been flagged by the municipality. An unsafe building he built on the adjacent property was demolished after the city secured a court order. Our building inspectors will yet again have to fine him and stop any further construction. Hello Swati Maliwal, The Google map screenshot you are showing is of a building next to the Haryana Agricultural Minister office. Also, The building wasn't built now but has been there for years. Here are Google images of that building from 2013-2024. Also, Not sure How you got the figure of two acres. The empty land (As pointed by an arrow) opposite the building is max 20000 sqft. Not 2 acres ( 87120 sqft)

In August, we demolished dangerous buildings in Pretoria West that were built by a foreign national named ‘Asaba’. Today, in Sunnyside, we discovered another building owned by the same man that has questionable construction. An additional floor has been built on top of this building and it doesn’t appear safe. The building was declared structurally unsound after a partial collapse last week, which raised immediate safety issues for nearby residents and surrounding structures. In response, all residents have been evacuated, with precautionary measures in place to ensure their safety. Patients from Coast General Teaching & Referral Hospital have also been advised to seek medical services in alternative hospitals during the affected period to avoid any risks associated with the operation. The public has been urged to stay clear of the vicinity for the next eight hours, as the demolition is carried out. Emergency services, including ambulances and fire trucks, are on standby to handle any unforeseen events during the controlled explosion. The collapse is believed to have been caused by the addition of extra floors, which added more weight than the foundation could support. The drilling of a borehole near the building led to the floor columns sinking by three meters and further compromised the structure's integrity. As a result, the decision was made to bring the building down using controlled explosions.
