Before the war, Iraq was pumping over 4M barrels/day, now production has dropped to the floor. We're talking about as much as 70% in some fields, and most of that oil has nowhere to go. Even major fields like Zubair in Basra have seen output collapse from 400K to just 250K barrels/day, and most of that oil stays home. Iraq is desperately looking for alternative export routes (trucking to other ports), but the higher costs and insurance are brutal. If the war drags on, Iraq faces a very dark economic future.
