🚨BREAKING: CA wants to spend $132,000 jailing each individual journalist that exposes fraud. The bill to criminalize journalists for exposing fraud, a.k.a. the “Stop Nick Shirley Act,” went into a Suspense File, but not to die. After being heard in the Senate Appropriations Committee, it is expected to come... out on August 13th or 14th, then go to the Senate floor for a full vote. After it goes to the Senate, it will return to the State Assembly for concurrence (where it will pass again as amended) and then go to the Governor for signature. They are only a few steps away from taking away free speech and spending hundreds of thousands per individual arrestee to do it. My young friend, Lucky (Lucky Basseri), and I testified on Nick’s behalf to put a stop to this atrocity. It appears the Governor would rather prioritize criminalizing journalists or banning traditional blackjack in cardrooms over protecting the taxpayer dollars of the state citizenry. Maybe Newsom should write off less Armani on his taxes and listen to the young men and women more.
