🚨BREAKING: Cal State LA just moved classes online and let faculty work remotely, not for a storm, not for COVID, but because ICE is in the area. Let that sink in, an entire university is treating immigration enforcement like a public health crisis. A country built by immigrants is... show more

Very humane decision on the part of CalState. I worked on that campus in the 1990s, and the student population was 20k at that time. The students spoke 27 different languages as their first language at that time. Beautiful diversity and we loved it. 💙

When an entire university shuts down because ICE is nearby, that’s not law and order—it’s fear and failure in full display. You don’t “secure the border” by turning campuses into panic zones and classrooms into ghost towns. This isn’t immigration policy. It’s intimidation policy. And history won’t look kindly on the ones who cheered it on.

Why can’t ICE just perform their duties within the law?

Smart move!!!

Cal State LA moving classes online because of ICE raids isn’t just a logistical adjustment—it’s a warning flare. When students and faculty feel too unsafe to show up on campus, something’s deeply wrong. Our immigration system shouldn’t turn public universities into hideouts. It should reflect our values: education, opportunity, and basic human dignity. We need more than headlines—we need change. No student should have to weigh their future against their freedom. Call Congress at 202-224-3121 and demand comprehensive immigration reform. Because classrooms should be places to learn, not places to hide.

This bonkers. How can illegal immigrants be going to college?

Whats wrong with people chasing their dreams?

Maybe they shouldn’t be here, maybe they should seek opportunities in their own country. Maybe when they come over here they should do it legally.

Given that ICE has been pretty random about these detentions, taking people based on what they look like and not their actual immigration status, the college clearly took the right approach. This regime has created a situation that is very similar to a public health crisis.
