BREAKING: CBC News The National just aired this segment on Basic Income

The day CBC interviewed @floydmarinescu for this, Ottawa City Council passed a motion endorsing basic income. This came after hundreds of our activists wrote their councillors in support of the motion.

Basic income can grow the economy more than it costs and can be funded without taxing working Canadians. We're already spending more than that on the costs of poverty today.

Basic income supports working people and allows them to invest in themselves and those around them. Study after study has shown the same.

The evidence is pretty clear that the impact of basic income on work is low. If anything it gives people more freedom to pursue new work and entrepreneurial opportunities.

There are countless stories of people with basic income escaping abuse, taking risks leading to better jobs, building businesses, and pursuing education. These would only be possible with the security that a guaranteed income can provide.
