If you live in or visit NYC then you know that the streets and bike lanes look like the third world. It’s filled with food delivery drivers on electric bikes and they have no regard for the rules of the road. You have to have your head on a swivel or else they will run you over.

Oliya, they were ebikes not bicycles

Ebike is in fact an electric bicycle

@ImpunityCity I trust @StreetsblogNYC The motorbike, which did not have a license plate, was made by Deepower & appeared to be a model that is not legal to operate on city streets because it can reach 30 mph. That two-wheeler was made by the company Movcan & is also not legal on city streets.

@ScooterCasterNY @StreetsblogNYC You should not trust streetsblog because they want to exempt fly wings and whizz ebikes even though they go the same speed Also, they get their ideas from racists

@ScooterCasterNY @StreetsblogNYC

@ScooterCasterNY @StreetsblogNYC I guess you like people who like racists

@ScooterCasterNY @StreetsblogNYC You throw that would around like in means something.

@ScooterCasterNY @StreetsblogNYC I guess you must be deaf when it comes to ebikes

The vehicle shown is not a bicycle. It's a class 1 e-bike that can go insanely fast. We need to be confiscating them ASAP.

need to start calling them what they are MOTOR cycles, these "bikes" can go upwards of 30mph

That is not a bike fam

Electric bike it seems.

One of the bicyclist was driving an e-bike. Unfortunately, in NYC there is no process to effectively check speed maximum (25 MPH) and power(<750 W) in the field with the number of models and modifications of e-bikes out there. Many are really unregistered motor vehicles and the city refuses to address the danger.

cyclist? You mean, motorbikes - since these accidents these days is largely that. And folks complain about normal cyclists and cycling - without a motor.. Seriously - this is like at least 1 time a week - something that you didn't see before.

"Cyclist"

That’s a fcking e-bike. The things are an absolute menace. Too fast & heavy for the bike lanes. They need serious regulation. Make them lighter & slower, or make them ride with traffic and follow standard traffic laws like a motorcycle.

Those hipster lowrider E-bikes with the fat tires are unsafe for the driver. They have too much power, go up to 45 mph and are less maneuverable than a standard e-bike. The rider is more exposed in a crash to head injury. They belong off-road don't belong on city streets.

Electric motorcycle not an e bike; reclassify and register/tag these death machines.

Very sad. Not surprising tho as there are NO traffic regulations enforced upon bicyclists in NYC. They run over pedestrians all the time seriously injuring them

We need a $9 Collision and Combustion tax on every delivery app order. Make whole the victims of this migrant violence

Either ban e bikes in the bike line or heavily regulate the speed limit. These things are low end motorcycles at this point. Super dangerous for all parties.

Terrible. RIP. Unfortunately, it will still happen again — there are no laws for bikers. Every day I have to avoid getting hit by an e-bike or bicycle.

Won’t happen when @HarveyforNY @ShaunAbreu favorite pets at Los Deliveristas UNIDOs are in the way. @ZohranKMamdani will use them as a reason for vetoing Pricilla’s law if @SpeakerMenin was to get it past In the council. @AFineBlogger @nyc_evsa @enforcelawsNYC 7/29/26 200pm

Why am i not sad? These bikes especially the ones with these illegals riding them are nothing but a nuisance.

These electric bicycles are very fast and heavy, so I don't think they're suitable for riding in bike lanes. The best course of action is to follow traffic rules

so even when 2 bikes collide, it’s a car that kills them

E-bikes need to be treated like a motorcycle or something to that effect. They are a hazard that belongs in the road and registered, insured, and require a license to drive one. Enough, is enough. @KathyHochul

And @nycpa @JumaaneWilliams called this “traffic violence” when in reality it was two third-world illegals on e-bikes. Thanks @JumaaneWilliams for selling out the city

@Chrislejohnyc BAN THE BIKES

Been in NYC for 35 yrs and still don't understand why ppl ever bike in the city. Looks dangerous af

Well it was only a matter of time before an e-bike killed somebody

We MuSt KeEp CaRs OfF tHe StReEtS tO sToP tRaFfIc ViOlEnCe.

Worst thing that’s happened in New York City besides a bunch of other shit is E-bikes

expect much more of that and it's on Mamdani for pushing these dangerous two way bike lanes

It was an illegal motor bike not e-bike.

Soon @GershKuntzman @bfurnas @TransAlt will have an exploitative vigil with,Familles for Safe Streets & Los Deliveristas calling on the @NYC_DOT to kill one full car lane on both sides of the BKbridge & make it a bike lanes so it can honor the same 17 yr old that they killed!!

@CommunityNotes The vehicle pictured in this video is an electric motorcycle or e-moto.

A noble sacrifice on the altar of transalt. How will four wheel vehicles be blamed for this tragedy?

Good. These cyclist think they own the roads. Rot in piss fuck face.

What should happen 1 license 2 traffic safty course 3 insurance

No regulations, no consequences, just pure chaos on the streets. There will be many many more deaths.
