I walked over towards the Portland police with Nick Sortor. Nick and I were recording a lady making complaints to the police and then the lady walked off. Nick stood a few feet from the police and was joking with them saying something along the lines of “I don’t like the police until I need them. I’m joking. I support the police.” Nothing threatening. They just forcefully removed me and then released me. Of all the people with signs here through the years, I’m the only person they have ever done this to. Having peaceful conversations about children being harmed is apparently the one thing we’re not allowed to do.

And here is a breakdown of what ACTUALLY happened. - On May 20th at approximately 12:34 p.m., a Fairfield Police Officer serving as a School Resource Officer responded to a large physical fight involving multiple students at Fairfield High School. During the altercation, one student physically fought with a school official who was attempting to break up the fight, prompting the officer to immediately request emergency assistance. - While trying to stop the fight, the officer observed a student attempting to retrieve an item from a backpack. Believing the student could be reaching for a weapon, the officer confiscated two backpacks and turned them over to school staff. - The officer escorted one involved student to the school office, while a large crowd of students followed behind and continued attempting to fight the detained student. - The officer then attempted to detain a second student who was actively trying to continue the fight. The student refused commands, ran into a crowd where additional fights were occurring, and then struck the officer in an attempt to avoid being detained. - As the officer escorted the second student toward the school office, the student repeatedly pulled away and continued resisting.
