🚨🇺🇦🚀 BIG | Ukraine's missile industry is entering a new phase with longer-range weapons and a new European-backed missile defense program. New developments suggest Kyiv is rapidly expanding both its offensive strike capabilities and its ability to defend against ballistic missile attacks. According to Fire Point CEO Iryna Terekh, Ukraine's Sapsan ballistic missile has recently undergone significant modernization, achieving its first major improvements in precision. At the same time, Fire Point has reached agreements with 13 European defense companies to jointly develop the Freyja ballistic missile defense system. Speaking to Reuters, Terekh said the project aims to achieve its first successful ballistic missile interception by mid-2027. The interceptor is expected to cost less than €1 million per missile, making it significantly cheaper than comparable Patriot interceptors. Norway's Kongsberg is developing the command-and-control system, while discussions continue with Germany's Diehl Defence to integrate its missile guidance technology. Fire Point also revealed that its FP7 ballistic missile is in the final stage of certification by Ukraine's Ministry of Defense and is expected to enter combat service in early autumn. The larger FP9 ballistic missile, which the company says will have the range to strike Moscow, is scheduled to be fully operational by late autumn. The announcements underline Ukraine's accelerating push to build a domestic missile industry capable of strengthening both its strategic strike capability and its long-term air and missile defense with growing support from Europe's defense sector.
