Just 30 minutes later, LVMPD officers responded to a crash near Spring Mountain and I-15. While investigating that crash, officers were approached by a citizen who reported they had just been carjacked. Through quick investigative work, our officers determined the vehicle involved in the crash was also connected to the earlier homicide. The suspect from the murder was now also a suspect in the carjacking. Once we obtained the license plate of the carjacked vehicle, our officers and our Real-Time Crime Center tracked the suspect driving around our Downtown Area Command. Officers located the vehicle and a pursuit was initiated. The chase continued along the Boulder Highway corridor, during which the suspect carjacked a second victim at a fast-food drive-thru. Our LVMPD Air Unit maintained visual contact as the suspect reached speeds of over 105 mph. Moments later, the suspect crashed into a bus stop near Boulder Hwy & Tropicana—critically injuring one person waiting there. The suspect fled again after a third carjacking, but our officers were able to safely end the pursuit using a PIT maneuver near Sahara & Boulder Hwy. The suspect is now in custody.
