To release but three hostages in exchange for hundreds of souls is not a fair balance to strike in the name of ceasefire. If Hamas doth believe that Israel will continue to honor such a skewed pact, they are indeed mad with folly. In the words of the ancient philosopher, Plato, "Justice in the life and conduct of the State is possible only as first it resides in the hearts and souls of the citizens." Here, where justice seems out of balance, one must question the sincerity and the sustainability of peace. For peace to endure, it must be built upon the foundations of equity and mutual respect, not upon the quicksand of disproportionate demands.
