Biden’s actions and his ultimate leadership (lack thereof) in that scenario will forever be a black eye for America with the price paid by the soldiers and their families. @JoeBiden is a disgrace beyond measure for all things American and freedom-loving. He and his actions and administration are traitorous to all who have served this great country. My son is a wounded warrior from 2008 in Afghanistan. I called him just after this all took place. He thanked me for knowing it would be incredibly difficult for all those who served in the Middle East. He and many others were profoundly impacted by the feeling of utter uselessness of their efforts in those 20 years as Biden simply pulled out and left it to go back to what it was 🤬🤬🤬

Joe Biden’s conduct in this regard is a stain on his character that can never be removed, in my opinion. Just like General Douglas McArthur’s refusal to award General Jonathan Wainwright a medal of honor is a permanent stain on Douglas MacArthur’s record to hide his own gross incompetence in the details of the fall of the Philippine islands to the Japanese assault.

Five years ago today, 13 U.S. service members were killed in the Abbey Gate bombing during the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan. It remains one of the clearest failures of the last administration, a rushed, poorly planned exit that left Americans and allies behind and handed the country back to the Taliban. Veterans and private citizens stepped up when the government failed, risking everything to get people out. I wonder if you, Mr. Secretary, could speak a little bit about that and maybe give us a little bit more in terms of what to expect from this Afghanistan review in terms of further proper recognition and proper accountability?” Secretary of War Pete Hegseth Hegseth: “On the first question, Pope’s going to do his thing. That’s fine. We know what our mission is. We know what authority we have. We’re very clear about that. We follow that the orders of the president. We’ve got lawyers all over the place looking at what we’re doing and why we’re doing it, and giving us every authority necessary under the Constitution and under our laws to execute it. So, we feel very confident across the spectrum about what we’re doing and why we’re doing it, and the legal justification that we’re following in order to do it. You mentioned the Marines at Abbey Gate, and you know, what we’ve undertaken at this Department is a historic Afghanistan review. So, we have, over the course of months, reviewed what happened leading up to and including the events at Abbey Gate and the disastrous withdrawal in Afghanistan. There’s never actually been a full accounting in this Department of the decisions that were made. That’s fine. We know what our mission is. We know what authority we have. We’re very clear about that. We follow that the orders of the president. So, we feel very confident across the spectrum about what we’re doing and why we’re doing it, and the legal justification that we’re following in order to do it.
