However, when asked to clarify, he did not say what the statement would be. The President also said that today he made a deal with NATO under which the USA will send weapons to Ukraine through NATO. 📢Trump promises major statement on Russia on Monday Donald Trump has announced he will make an “important statement on Russia” early next week, telling NBC News he is “disappointed in Russia.” In addition, the U.S. president revealed details of a new arms delivery scheme to Ukraine via NATO. According to Trump: “We’re sending weapons to NATO, and NATO pays 100% of the cost. So it goes to NATO, and NATO then passes it on to Ukraine.” He noted that this agreement was reached at the NATO summit last month. The arrangement may be aimed at reducing domestic criticism over direct U.S. military aid to Ukraine. Trump also said he expects the Senate to approve a new sanctions package against Russia, which would give the president maximum flexibility in applying it: “The Senate will pass a very serious and tough sanctions package, but whether or not it’s enforced is up to the president.”
