The matter is long, bro . We will never forget, and we will never forgive 💯 What happened during the just concluded election is enough to make an Igbo parent think twice about welcoming a Yoruba suitor, Particularly the one with Lagos where a true Yoruba guy was rejected by his own people because his mum is Igbo. The election in lagos is a weak up call to Igbo women and Igbo girl, especially oo. Honestly, we saw and witnessed a lot. It was pure evil. The worst is that even Yoruba men that are married to Igbo women and have children born of Igbo women like Seyi Law and FFK were spreading so much hatred against the Igbo's, and even instigating others to hate Igbo's too. And that makes me wonder how my sisters cope in these families. It's a terrible situation to remember. Proudly Igbo Keep it up, girls

They call us Yoruba demons. Because we are smart and good looking, and we treat them ladies with so much love and respect and yet we are not in love yet. The girls wan mad. Igbo demons, how does that sound? Okay, Igbo angel, that one sounds worse. Yoruba angel still works fine.

Nwanyi Ocha is trending because Igbos are arguing if a non-Igbo woman married to an Igbo man is automatically Igbo, or can join Umuada or be buried in Igboland. We consulted from two Igbo elders, not Google or Internet Archive this time. This is what they told us. Umuada are Daughters from a village. — Simply; female offsprings of men from a village in Igboland. Not just from a kindred, a kindred is linked to one ancestor. But village is made up of multiple kindreds e.g. Ezeoke, Obiangwu, Umualumaku etc. They do festivals together as a unit. In essence, unless you were born by an Igbo man, you cannot be an Umuada. Also Igbo marriage doesn’t strip your identity, it only modifies and adopts you. A non-Igbo married to an Igbo man doesn’t become an Igbo person, but by marriage affiliation she’s accorded all due respect and privilege as a — Wife (inyom di) But if she ever has female kids, they are automatically Umuada, Male kids; Umunna and the kids will get full traditional rights, benefits and entitlement even after death. On burial, anyone fully married to an Igbo man is to be buried at the man’s village or hometown or compound anywhere it is; unless specially decided. It is unlikely for an Igbo man’s wife to be taken back to her paternal or maternal home for burial. This is also practiced in South South. The fact is, if an Igbo man marries a Jamaican, Yoruba, Hausa etc. They remain Jamaican, Yoruba, or Hausa. The woman’s ancestry and identity is linked to her father, so will her own kids be linked to her Igbo husband. All of this started after “Lagos Igbo-Feminists” attacked Nwanyi Ocha for advising Ndi Igbo to always take their kids home, after her son met a Igbo kid in Switzerland who doesn’t know what state he’s from in Nigeria. Offended Igbo women shunned Nwanyi Ocha, saying she doesn’t have the right to speak or advise Igbo culture, because she’s not Igbo, an outsider. Men disagreed, arguing that she’s more Igbo than any of them. — Unfortunately, she isn’t more Igbo than an Umuada; she however has the right to speak on Igbo matters because; She’s Igbo by marriage and a full member of the community with all benefits, except membership to Umuada. But she can join or even lead any group in the Igbo community. Follow Trending Explained for daily explanations. Load the screenshot in HQ.
