The template here is Andhra Pradesh. Karnataka's study team went there on 19 and 20 Jan 2026 to see how Urdu got second official language status, and that report drives this. Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi said it is still under examination. The demand came from Congress MLA Ashok Kumar Rai of Puttur, and the Global Alliance of Tulu Associations pushed Speaker UT Khader on it.
