BREAKING: Liberals have created a Canada-US council which includes the former leader of the Conservative Party. Mexico has a preliminary agreement with the US, while Canada has a new council. Frankly speaking, I think It’s a scape goat or hedge for when they fail. Carney has already set us... down this path. Especially considering his inflammatory video launched this weekend. This way, they can say “see, we tried to negotiate something and we even had Conservatives on the council”. We don’t need a council, we need a deal done. And they already have a team to do that. I think this is all for show. So they can say that they put partisanship aside and they “tried their best” which is far from the truth. They have escalated things and have had no meaningful discussions of a deal SINCE LAST YEAR. Worth noting: noticeably absent from this list, are tech entrepreneurs, self-made billionaires (ie. Tobi Lutke), & Canadian Innovators. Personally, I hope I’m wrong. And they succeed. But a council doesn’t get a deal done. The buck stops with the government.show more

What angers us the most is that they did not demolish their employees’ houses. Attached is a video showing the houses of Council officials that are still standing. We also have a radio recording of the Director of Housing, Mr Nyabeza, acknowledging our stands and clarifying the army cantonment issue. They used our pipes for water and sewer connections and said they would return them. We have a stamped letter that we sent to Council asking for our pipes to be returned. We had to buy new pipes for a second time. Yet, despite all this, they still call us illegal.

If no deal is better than 50% tariffs and 10’s of thousands of people losing their jobs, I think we deserve more than our Government saying “trust us bro” when we ask why they did it. We need to see this deal. But we won’t, instead what we will see this week is Carney & the Premier’s with the usual - “team canada” “we are united against Trump” “we can be our own best customers” and “Canada strong” talking points while they drop a trillion of our tax dollars to keep Canadian industries alive.

💰 Tower Hamlets Council has spent almost £67,000 on swimming pool inflatables. This is a council so badly run that the Government has had to step in. Their own auditors have refused to sign off the accounts for six years because they can’t be sure where all the money has gone. ❌ They couldn’t verify contracts. ❌ They couldn’t verify care payments. Praised by Alberta Premier Danielle Smith: "Americans have perceived us as being weak. I mean, you hear it. They think that our economy will collapse if we don't come to a, to an agreement. The Prime Minister has spent the, the last year or, and a bit doing, is setting up new trade negotiations, new trade partnerships. He's got 20 additional trade relationships that represent a market of 3 billion people. And every time I meet with a new ambassador, they know who Canada is, they know what we have to offer, and they know, especially whether it's energy or critical minerals, or or food products, they know those are the kind of products they want. So, that goes into a negotiation from a position of strength." The thing is that they are mostly MOUs and it will take us another 10 years to build new export capacities if we start building today which we are not, while adding new red tape. Canada will need to add another $1T in debt by then to sustain and build things with no way to pay for it.

Their Mayor and City Council dissolved their FREE, volunteer-based citizen groups, so that they could employ themselves to do the job. They then doubled their own salaries using tax payer funds. “This council voted to dissolve the CRA board with no notice or conversation with that board They then named a new board consisting of all the council members This week we have learned that City Council will vote tonight on giving themselves a stipend to cover the cost of their additional duties. This stipend is $6,000 per month for the Mayor, $3333 per month for each council member. That's a total of $351,972 per year to replace a group of volunteers who worked for free. I do not remember seeing those funds accounted for in the budget that was approved in September and for each council member an increase of 99%. I wonder how the city's union employees feel about this. I notice that this item is on the consent agenda, meaning that you would prefer it be kept in the dark with no discussion among yourselves. At age 76, I thought I had seen it all, but this council has erased that thought. After this council eliminated all the volunteer boards that they could get away with, we now know why. I can hardly wait to see how much they will pay themselves to perform the duties of the Budget Review Committee that I served on for seven years as a volunteer. This cash grab by this city council pretty much kills the respect and admiration I previously held for those who I thought had the public interest at heart. I suspect I'm not alone.
