Russia's Foreign Minister Lavrov on Japan: At an event in Oceania with partners in the Philippines, the Japanese minister said that they had discussed bilateral issues and the regional situation with Lavrov. I was struck by this because it happened during a formal banquet, with all the ministers seated around a long table. Suddenly, someone touched me on the shoulder from behind. I turned around and there was our Japanese colleague, who said, "I’m so glad to see you. How are you?" I didn’t even have time to stand up. I shook his hand, and he went back to his seat. And apparently, this is what is meant by having "discussed bilateral and regional issues."
