When asked about ICE entering the subways, Mamdani says it’s his job to “make sure that doesn’t take place.” He says, “what New Yorkers need from a federal administration is the kind of partnership that will actually keep New Yorkers safe,” but that they “don’t need” ICE or the National Guard. But the message really has to be that we want you to come along with us — we want you to be part of this politics beyond just the ballot box. That’s something we’ve been looking to share with New Yorkers: your participation in democracy extends beyond Election Day. We want to not only win with New Yorkers, but also govern with New Yorkers.
