The Delhi government had 24 years to implement these sterilisation programs, implement the ABC rules...Delhi has 10 lakh dogs. Housing them in shelters is impractical. It is very difficult. This is going to create chaos and problems. Removal of dogs is inhumane, is cruelty in itself, and the conditions within the shelters are going to be very bad...We are exploring all our legal avenues. Animal rights activist & BJP leader Maneka Gandhi says, "This is as bad as or even worse than Justice Pardiwala's judgement. This cannot be put into practice...If 5000 dogs are removed, where will you keep them? You need 50 shelters...But you do not have that. You need people to pick them up. What difference will removing 5000 dogs make? If there are 8 lakh dogs here, what will removing 5000 dogs change?...The question is that if this were possible, it would have been done..."

Because Delhi does not have the capacity to keep 7 lakh street dogs in one place in good humane conditions. MCD also knows this. We have got such a good assurance from the Mayor that he also wants to implement the order in a good way, along with all the citizens. We want every living being, whether it is human or animal, to live and let live. Compassion and non-violence is our religion... In the first phase, those dogs will be picked up who are aggressive, bite or whose behaviour needs improvement..."

The Supreme Court order on stray dogs in Delhi is nothing but a death sentence for every single stray on every single street in the national capital - and each one of us needs to raise our voice against it to #SaveDelhiDogs. Listen, I’m not some animal rights activist. I think every single stray dog needs to be vaccinated, sterilised, and released into safe surroundings. Those who bite humans should be rehabilitated or put into a shelter. But how on EARTH and WHY are you putting EVERY SINGLE STREET DOG in Delhi in a shelter? Pehle toh aapke paas shelter nahi hai, aur order implement ABHI honi hai. What is the government doing? Releasing them into the forest! Into the ridge! How the hell will they survive? What is worse, they have absurd rules - you cannot adopt any dog that has been put into a shelter. So what will a puppy who has been picked up from the street today do? Live the rest of his life in a sarkari prison? The Supreme Court is correct to worry about a rise in rabies cases. But the solution is not this ABSURD, IMPRACTICAL, and INHUMAN plan to throw all our street dogs into poorly managed, poorly built shelters in the middle of nowhere. GLOBAL examples have shown that there is only ONE solution to this problem: vaccinate, sterilise, and release. Why does the government not want to follow SUPREME COURT RULINGS directing the MCD to carry out sterilisation drives? With all due respect to the Supreme Court, today’s verdict is not based in legal precedent nor in common sense or scientific fact. Aur toh aur, it goes against laws put in place by Parliament because of leaders like Maneka Sanjay Gandhi ji. This is a classic case of judicial overreach by a judiciary that has forgotten that it cannot invent the law. Finally, baat rahi of long term solutions. Most strays were once pets bought from sasta breeders who don’t care about animals. What happens when the dog that Dimple Aunty bought for her son’s birthday is thrown onto the streets one year later? When he mates with another dog abandoned by another careless owner and has kids on the street? How many dogs will you keep transferring to these shelters - and for how long? Look at the condition of the gaushalas constructed by this government. Look at the failed policy of trying to send monkeys to shelters. Jo gay ko sambhal nahi paaye, jo Dilli mein bandaron ki samasya ka hal dhoondh nahi sake, woh kutton ki kya izzat karenge? MCD ki incompetence ki keemat hamare strays kyun bhare? Rekha Gupta ji, reconsider your decision. You still have time. We can work together to ensure Delhi’s streets are safe for dogs AND humans.

Look at this furry little soul, showing such unconditional love to her caregiver. ❤️ Animals don’t ask for much — just a little food, care, and true love. In return, they give us trust, loyalty, and affection beyond words. But sadly, so many of them suffer on the streets — injured, hungry, abandoned, or abused. Their only fault? That they were born into an environment where no one wanted to take responsibility. We always say this with all our heart — population control is the only humane and sustainable way forward. Mass sterilization and vaccination are not just medical procedures, they are acts of compassion. They help control the growing stray population and prevent endless cycles of suffering. This is the most important step to avoid human-animal conflict and to ensure that every stray gets the dignity of life it deserves. Let us stand together for them. 🐕 Every single day I feed 80 street dogs in Thailand 🥘 We also cook food for 800 dogs in total around the island which gets handed out by volunteers and shelters 🛵 The dogs all know the sound of the scooter coming from miles away 💊 Tey hall look so healthy because they get medicines and vet trips when needed ✂️ Every dog we can we sterilise to control populations. 2000 this year alone The truth is I could easily pay someone to do the morning feed for me given how many balls I am keeping in the air with this mission to save street dogs. I never will though and will always start my day on the moped as it keeps me close to the problem. It makes me remember why I do this. Also just showing up and being there for the dogs is important for me as someone who is a recovering alcoholic. How could you possibly let those wonderful creatures down 🥰🙏

They have said that if anyone has an issue with our verdict or if they feel their grievances are not being heard, they should approach the High Court. Now, whether people will actually go running to 36 different High Courts across the country, or whether they won't, remains to be seen. In their previous verdict, they had issued very strict directives: remove them from schools, remove them from colleges, remove them from hospitals, remove them from bus stops, and instead, construct shelters for them. None of these five directives has been implemented by anyone...our demand is simply this: establish ABC (Animal Birth Control) centres—and build them properly. The ABC centres that currently exist are of very substandard quality; furthermore, the contracts for these centres were awarded to the relatives of officials. Consequently, they do not treat the animals with proper care. After performing sterilisation surgeries on the animals, they take them from affluent colonies and dump them into impoverished neighbourhoods...A dog that has already undergone sterilisation surgery will never bite anyone. So, if the ABC centres were established and operated correctly, everything would run smoothly..."
