According to the Awami Action Committee between 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. today four RDX-like explosive devices fitted with timers were dropped by a drone over the ongoing protest site in Rawalakot, PoK. A large number of protesters were present at the site at the time. The committee claimed that volunteers acted swiftly, removed the devices, and safely defused them, preventing what it described as a potentially massive loss of life. After the arrest of nationalist leader Shaukat Nawaz Mir, the Joint Action Committee has declared "no more talks" with Islamabad. A July 5 shutdown has been announced to paralyse Muzaffarabad. Leaders are calling for a Long March to the PoK Assembly, urging people to rally under the Kashmiri flag, reject Pakistani authority and turn the agitation into a battle for "honour, identity and survival." The crackdown by General Munir's army is only alienating more PoK residents. With internet services disrupted, organisers are mobilising supporters through phone networks and appealing to the UK Kashmiri diaspora to join a "Million March." Pakistan is confronting something far bigger than a law-and-order problem. Whether this becomes another crushed uprising or the start of a 1971-style rupture will depend on what unfolds in the coming days.
