The images tell the story. It's the cantilevered infill on the NW corner that placed too much weight on the 1960 columns below. This has not really been well reported but I pieced it together from the FDNY drone images.

I think the bigger news here is that the construction workers reported it, which suggests the construction may have involved inspections and perhaps even something done to code in NY.

Curious why the windows are not cracked if the building is “sagging” - the window frames all look fine …maybe just a matter of time- the middle falls down and building implodes
