If you are serious, why don’t you reveal the real owners of those containers. Our government needs to prove that they aren’t complicit - otherwise why is it that nobody is ever held accountable for crimes like this?

Can those responsible for clearing the containers be held responsible for this crime against humanity and our country since they knew what exactly are in those containers.

We hear this everyday. Yet nobody ever goes to jail. Nobody is ever prosecuted. Nobody is ever held responsible. Our government is the greatest enablers of corruption.

NSA Malam Nuhu Ribadu Commends Inter-Agency Efforts in Combating Illegal Drugs and Arms in Nigeria The National Security Adviser (NSA) Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has praised the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for their relentless efforts in safeguarding Nigeria’s public health and security. Speaking at the closing session of the Committee for the Destruction of Illegally Imported Pharmaceuticals in Abuja on Tuesday, Malam Ribadu highlighted the successful seizure and destruction of 207 containers of illegal and unregistered drugs as a landmark achievement. Malam Nuhu Ribadu conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s appreciation for the seamless collaboration among the three agencies, which has been instrumental in preventing harmful drugs from reaching vulnerable populations, particularly Nigeria’s youth. “These criminals don’t care about the damage they cause, but you have chosen to stand and fight for the country,” he said, reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating such threats. “We will not relent,” Ribadu added, emphasizing that Nigeria is undergoing a transformation and will no longer tolerate activities that undermine national security and public safety. The NSA also underscored his office’s ongoing partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service in tackling the proliferation of illegal arms and ammunition, a key driver of insecurity, including banditry and terrorism. This collaboration, he noted, is critical to addressing the multifaceted challenges facing the nation. Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, described the scale of the drug seizure as necessitating a state of emergency. He stressed the importance of inter-agency cooperation in joint examinations, investigations, and prosecutions, revealing that additional containers of illicit goods had been uncovered with guidance from the Office of the National Security Adviser. “We will remain vigilant to ensure controlled substances don’t fall into the wrong hands,” Adeniyi assured. NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Moji Adeyeye, expressed gratitude to the NSA for bolstering enforcement efforts, including a significant raid in February involving 1,350 security personnel. She disclosed that 137 truckloads of banned products were destroyed following operations in major markets such as Idumota, Aba, and Onitsha. Similarly, NDLEA Secretary, Mr. Shadrach Haruna, commended the NSA’s coordination, noting that the joint operation alleviated the agency’s burden and facilitated the legal destruction of seized drugs. He added that eliminating these illicit products has contributed to improving the ease of doing business in Nigeria. The coordinated efforts of the NSA, NCS, NAFDAC, and NDLEA reflect a robust strategy to protect Nigeria’s critical infrastructure and public health, ensuring a safer and more secure nation for all.
