[WATCH] Suspended police sergeant Fannie Nkosi will spend another week behind bars after the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court postponed his bail application to next Monday. Nkosi appeared in court following a raid at his property, where a grenade, ammunition and seven firearms were allegedly found. He faces charges of defeating the ends of justice and contravening the Firearms Control Act. The consolidated matter will now be heard at the Pretoria North Magistrate's Court on 22 July 2026. Nkosi faces multiple charges linked to separate investigations, including the alleged theft of a SAPS forensic report connected to a drug investigation. In the Pretoria North Magistrates’ Court this morning, the State produced a certificate from the Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions authorising the joining of the Thohoyandou (Venda) matter with the existing Pretoria charges. Both the State and defence confirmed the matter is now trial-ready. By agreement, the case was transferred to the Pretoria North Regional Court for first appearance on 19 August 2026. Nkosi remains in custody.
