It appears this story isn’t getting much traction due to Boeing’s massive influence. NASA and Boeing launched the Starliner with a... known helium leak, they thought it wasn’t a big deal. Now, two astronauts are stuck at the International Space Station as the tiny leak led to a cascade of issues. They’re not stuck. They extended the mission to study glitches in the service module, since it is jettisoned before reentry this is their only opportunity. The craft has some leaks, but they’re minor and don’t affect the vehicle’s safety which is still capable of nominal entry. This was a test flight to work out these sorts of kinks, which happen during *every* test flight. This one just made the news since everyone hates Boeing right now.

The Shenzhou-22 just launched without astronauts inside, is actually the backup for Shenzhou-21. The Shenzhou-20 astronauts had their return delayed due to a space debris collision, so they switched and returned on the Shenzhou-21 spacecraft instead. This new Shenzhou-22 will eventually bring the three astronauts from the Shenzhou-21 mission back to Earth.
