The impression that Parliament is waiting for a Constitutional Instrument (C.I.) to be laid for the conduct of the December 2024 elections is FALSE! On Friday, 19th July, 2024, the Chair of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs Jean Mensah, told Parliament that the EC will not require a new C.I. for the conduct of this year’s elections. She was clear that the EC will rely on the old C.I. See video attached.

In Ethiopia’s voter registration process ahead of today’s election, local cadres are alleged to have systematically filled out voter registration cards in the names of people who never appeared at registration centers and, in some cases, individuals who do not even exist. According to sources, officials were instructed to register 1,500 voters per polling station regardless of the actual number of applicants. Opposition figures claim the practice was intended to conceal low registration rates caused by ongoing conflicts in the Amhara and Oromia regions and to create the appearance of high voter turnout. Most recently, stacks of pre-filled voter registration cards reportedly emerged as further evidence supporting these allegations.

NEW: Lancaster County, PA launches investigation after election officials say they found 2500 fraudulent voter registration forms. "Board of Elections staff members identified & contained incidents of voter registration fraud," Lancaster County Elections Board said. "Elections staff & the district attorney's office are currently assessing the nature and the volume of fraud." The forms were allegedly submitted to the Board of Elections in two separate batches towards the deadline for registration.
