@Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc Bitcoin is, essentially, a pyramid scheme. It exists to facilitate tax evasion and criminal money laundering. How is this public service?

@Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc What a ridiculous statement. You’re completely ignorant on the subject.

Do criminals use Bitcoin? 100% - just as they use phones, cars, and banknotes, but recent Chainalysis/TRM data show illicit activity is under 1% of crypto volume and has been shifting away from Bitcoin toward other assets like stablecoins. Painting millions of lawful users, builders and investors as criminals because a tiny minority abuse the rails isn’t “public service”. I can think of a good few broadcaster who are criminals, that doesn’t make @narindertweets one does it?

@Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc 1. Farage promises crypto scammers the UK will be nicer to them under Reform. 2. Convicted criminal whose crypto site was used for money laundering moves to the UK to donate to Reform. 3. Farage then directly promotes a crypto site with THIS post. What next? Dietary pills?

@Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc Stinks to high heaven. Hope Farage loses his investment. Given Kwarteng’s track record as chancellor that’s a pretty good possibility. Dodgy as anything.

@Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc So there we are: not a man of the people, an establishment figure, not represents his constituents in Clacton, grifting with bitcoin. I thought Farage wasn't good at finance? And where did the money for investing come from? Russia? Iran? USA? Not owning a house in Clacton?

@Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc The carbon copy Trump manoeuvre. Whatever Trump does to benefit personally, Farage will follow suit. Only in it for personal gain, everything else is a charade.

@Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc Nice to finally see a politician backing blockchain @Nigel_Farage. Long overdue in the UK. @stackbtc_ @kwasi_stackbtc wish you all the best with the venture. I’m sure @reformparty_uk will be leading on this in a future government. #reformuk

@alexinsley @Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc @reformparty_uk What do you say to the accusation that politicians enriching themselves by investing in industries they seek to regulate is a clear manifestation of corruption and corporate capture of democracy?

Alexander Insley's profile picture
Alexander Insley6 months ago

@stackbtc_ @Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc @reformparty_uk Declared interests exist for exactly this reason. Should every politician with a pension fund recuse themselves from financial regulation? Or MPs with mortgages from housing debates? The standard you’re applying only ever seems to point one direction Peter.

Peter Jukes's profile picture
Peter Jukes6 months ago

@stackbtc_ @Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc @reformparty_uk What daft analogies. Of course having a geared investment and voting shares in a company differs from having a bank account or pension fund. Every legislator be recused decisions affect their share portfolio. Otherwise we’ll have Trump levels of corruption here

Alexander Insley's profile picture
Alexander Insley6 months ago

@stackbtc_ @Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc @reformparty_uk The declared interest rules exist precisely to handle this, Peter. Farage followed them to the letter. That’s the system working. If you have an issue, it’s with Parliament’s disclosure framework, not Nigel. Or is the real problem just that you don’t like the investment itself?

Peter Jukes's profile picture
Peter Jukes6 months ago

@stackbtc_ @Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc @reformparty_uk The electoral commission regulations and parliamentary disclosure have clearly not caught up with fintech innovations, hence strong pressure for reform (not the party!). Thanks for providing more evidence here of the urgency of the issue. Democracy mustn't be captured by finance

Alexander Insley's profile picture
Alexander Insley6 months ago

So you’ve moved from “wrongdoing” to “the rules need updating.” That’s quite a journey for one thread. If you think the framework is flawed, argue for reform, but that’s not what you led with. You implied a scandal where there was actually full compliance. The internet just rewards outrage over accuracy.

@Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc Great work. We will turn the tide on 🇬🇧 and Bitcoin. So many different businesses starting to integrate with Bitcoin in 🇬🇧 and also a real chance to make it part of the very relevant energy discussion which is dominating the news these days for obvious reasons.

@Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc The love of money is the root of all evil. @Nigel_Farage , eager for money, has wandered from the faith & will pierce himself with many griefs. But he that will be rich falls into temptation & a snare & into many foolish & hurtful lusts, drowning him in destruction & perdition

@Nigel_Farage @blockchain @kwasi_stackbtc Kwasi Kwarteng, who with Liz Truss unleashed the 2022 mini‑budget that triggered a UK financial crisis, spiked borrowing costs, and forced the Bank of England into emergency action, is now a self‑styled Bitcoin visionary while soft‑pedalling his own role in the chaos. As I have said previously, there needs to be far more talk about Bitcoin in the media in the UK and I am hoping 2 such prominent figures such as @Nigel_Farage and @kwasi_stackbtc that maybe Bitcoin can be more openly discussed in the media. We are many years behind the US in this and we need to catch up quickly
