Black faces in white spaces do not equal justice for Black people. Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters—a Black man—looked at bodycam footage of his white officers punching a 22-year-old Black man in the face, breaking his car window, dragging him out, and slamming him to the ground over minor civil infractions, and defended them. Waters even had the audacity to say that if Black people “just comply,” these things wouldn’t happen. That’s a lie. Tell that to Philando Castile and the countless others who complied and still ended up beaten, brutalized, or dead. This is what happens when Black officials protect white power instead of Black lives. Representation without accountability is worthless. Being Black in a position of power means nothing if you use that power to uphold the same racist system that dehumanizes your own people.

There are hundreds of white people on Twitter upset that I spend my money with Black businesses. I don’t care. We’ve got to stop letting people gaslight us into thinking racism isn’t real or that group economics isn’t necessary for Black progress. Right now, Black unemployment is up to 7.2%. For Black women, it’s risen from 5.5% to 6.3% since last year. If we’re serious about confronting discrimination, we have to be intentional about supporting each other. That’s not racist — that’s wisdom. There are always a few Black folks who choose to serve white supremacy. Darrell Glasper is one of them. If you call a Black man a “cancer” for standing up for his people, you’re not just out of line — you’re a tool of the very system we’re fighting. We have to call that out as boldly as they attack us. I’m a free Black man, and I act like it. My doctors? Black. Landscaper? Black. HVAC tech? Black. Electrician? Black. Esthetician? Black. Lawyers, tailor, publicist, business manager, print shop, mechanic — all Black. When I host events, I choose Black venues. Because the Black dollar has to build Black economic power. If you’re white in America, you don’t have to try to buy white — it’s the default. So don’t be offended when Black people choose to be intentional about building our own economic future. The news reported the incident—but chose to blur the offender’s face and withhold identifying details, citing that no charges have been filed. That decision matters. When media outlets hide the identity of someone who openly engages in racist behavior, they aren’t protecting the public—they’re protecting the bigot. Racism doesn’t become less dangerous because it hasn’t been charged yet. It becomes more dangerous when it’s normalized, minimized, or concealed. If someone feels comfortable using racial slurs toward a stranger in public, the community deserves to know who they are and to decide how they want to respond—socially, economically, and morally. Here’s four and a half minutes of Charlie having a respectful dialogue with a black woman who’s likewise respectful to him but has a different viewpoint of “systemic racism” in modern-day America. Charlie engages her with the utmost redirect and dignity and even defends her from some folks in the crowd a few times. Charlie wasn’t racist. He wasn’t anti-black. He simply had a different view of race relations in 2025 America and who’s responsibility it is to fix the black American community, and he also NEVER viewed black people as a whole as a victim class. That might be offensive to some, but it’s certainly doesn’t equate to hate and bigotry. It’s a mere difference of opinion. A racist would’ve let the crowd go at her. A man who believed all black women didn’t have adequate brain processing power to be taken seriously wouldn’t engage respectfully back and forth like this.

Karmelo Anthony just found a new bright young cell mate‼️ A black 17 year old was just arrested in San Antonio for stabbing a store clerk to death because he wouldn’t sell him a $1 black and mild cigar. Don’t worry though I’m sure he was just a good kid that didn’t mean to hurt anybody. Just a future astrophysicist trying to defend himself from the “racist” store clerk that wouldn’t sell him tobacco because he was too young. In all seriousness though I don’t think we should overlook the fact that this comes at a time when the black community is sending a message loud and clear to their kids that it’s okay to stab people over minor disagreements or slight inconveniences. This also comes a couple of weeks after the black community tried to demonize Rick Chow for arming himself and protecting his convenience store from young black thugs who were terrorizing his family business for years. They call it racist when their murderous kids are held accountable for their crimes. They call it racist when you try to defend yourself from their murderous children and their crimes. Moral of the story? Stop caring about the “racist” label and start getting better at pattern recognition before you fall victim next.

Garry Porter is a 66 year-old white man who lives in Glendale, Arizona. He is the engineering director at Caris Life Sciences Caris Life Sciences. He was upset that I condemned racists for donating $700,000 to Shiloh Hendrix, who called an autistic five-year-old Black boy a ni88er, so he left a voicemail at my church. In his voicemail, he referred to the Black autistic child and other Black people as “Black negroes,” distorted what happened, which we can clearly see the viral video, relegated the vitriolic, racist, epithet as “just a word.” he then referred to black people as “clowns” who “use it everyday” to justify Hendrix calling the child a ni88er. He closed his vitriolic, racist message by telling me to “shut up“ and to preach to the “fools that listen” to my “crap” and “leave the country alone.” He closed out his diatribe by disrespectfully calling me “fat boy.“ Gary, make no mistake about it, I am a full grown Black MAN and neither you nor any other bigot can shut me up or make me leave the country that my ancestors built.

You look at the last 12 months, you look at these Supreme Court cases, you look at this racist redistricting map in Texas — and I say racist because it is systematically diluting the voting power of Black and Brown Texans. When you look at how the districts are now drawn, a white Texan has a lot more political power. Their vote matters more than the vote of our Black and brown neighbors. It’s why, a year ago yesterday, my colleagues and I in the Texas House took the extraordinary step of breaking quorum. We left the state of Texas and we went up to Illinois in order to prevent them from getting quorum. They couldn’t take up these new maps because we were gone. They called the Texas Rangers on us to find us and and arrest us and bring us back to the Capitol.
