Dr Jeremy said that the H5N1 virus predominantly infected poultry animals and ducks but over the timespan of one or two years the influenza infection has become an animal pandemic.

He said, ā€œThis is of great concern. Earlier the virus affected ducks and chickens then it started affecting mammals and now the virus has evolved and developed the ability to infect humans.

The virus may soon develop the ability to transmit from one human to another.ā€

Dr Jeremy said, ā€œWe have to make sure that the H5N1 does not come across humans as it can easily develop the ability to transmit between humans.

Don’t worry everyone. The death rate of avian flu is extraordinarily high but Maria van Kerkhov is the lead person at the WHO on this. If it spreads they’re going to focus on vaccine equality but the USA only has enough for 1 in 3 Americans. The rest of the world can drop dead.

@TanyaLentz We were slow to go to masks with COVID. Should we be asking those who work with cows, to use N95 masks to perhaps decrease the risk of transmission? What do we have to lose?

Again thank you Sass and well done for picking it up the WHO press conference with J Farrar so quickly The world needs to know about this threat and get eyes focussed on it We can't afford for govs to screw up on a virus causing fatalities in over 50% of infected humans

Assume it's airborne until proven otherwise. The high rate of asymptomatic transmission between birds and cows who appear healthy for months tells me that we're dealing with an iceberg and it's already in the community.
