Don’t worry everyone. The death rate of avian flu is extraordinarily high but Maria van Kerkhov is the lead person at the WHO on this. If it spreads they’re going to focus on vaccine equality but the USA only has enough for 1 in 3 Americans. The rest of the world can drop dead.

Assume it's airborne until proven otherwise. The high rate of asymptomatic transmission between birds and cows who appear healthy for months tells me that we're dealing with an iceberg and it's already in the community.

I have met Joel Salatin thanks to @DoctorReyn and he is right about Avian influenza… Imagine killing all chickens because 1 got avian influenza by an inadequate test that shows a piece of the virus that could be dead. Imagine not learning which chicken is resilient and using those chickens to create a robust immune system for humans. This is what was done with Covid. No one looked at what the microbiome of those resilient people who never had covid looked like except ProgenaBiome. Killing is NOT the answer..

Because it fell outside of the 2017 HHS P3CO Framework on gain-of-function research, which only applied to enhancing potential pandemic pathogens—i.e. things that were likely highly virulent in humans already. So the argument is: the research at WIV did not fit the definition of "enhanced pathogens of pandemic potential" because the bat coronaviruses studied there had not been shown to infect humans. So in other words, under this 2017 HHS P3CO Framework, altering a virus that's not infectious in humans to make it highly infectious in humans DID NOT constitute gain-of-function research. Mind-boggling.
