Facial Reconstruction of a 3,500-Year-Old Man from Blučina, Moravia, Czech Republic The Tumulus culture was the dominant material culture in Central Europe during the Middle Bronze Age. This culture, believed to have originated around 1600 BCE, is often associated with the Italo-Celtic peoples. In Moravia and Bohemia, the Tumulus culture is represented through its distinctive burial practices, including the construction of burial mounds or "tumuli," which often contain rich grave goods and skeletal remains. These burial mounds were typically placed on elevated ground. The people of Moravia and Bohemia during the Middle Bronze Age placed great importance on death rituals, and it seems that anthropophagy (cannibalism) was quite common in this period. Burial rites, as documented chiefly by the finds from Cézavy near Blucina and from Spišský Štvrtok, were often accompanied by human sacrifices. In the anthropological material unearthed in Cézavy near Blucina, we can distinguish two morphological types: one robust and the other more gracile. The robust type prevails in the largest piles of human and animal bones. Anthropophagy and burial rites combined with human sacrifices continued into the Hallstatt Period, as indicated by the finds from Stolová Hora near Mikulov in south Moravia, from the Hradisko Hill in Obřany near Brno, and from Býčí skála Cave in the Moravian Karst north of Brno. The halved human skull from Býčí skála Cave, used as a skull cup, speaks of a brutal burial rite connected with anthropophagy. Additionally, human remains with cut-off limbs and buried under piles of stones are indicative of human sacrifices. The man was gracile, with a large cranial length of 188mm, and a small cranial width of 133mm. Reconstruction commissioned by Hypercarnivore

Human Trafficking Complaint Spurs Police Action in Alberton: Senior Velocity Capital Executive Under Investigation Johannesburg – 5 December 2025 A senior executive at New York-based private equity firm Velocity Capital Management is under formal investigation following a human trafficking complaint lodged at Brixton Police Station on 26 November. Nishant Jain, Vice President at Velocity Capital, is the primary subject of the probe, which has triggered a series of high-level law enforcement operations across Gauteng. In a swift follow-up raid on Friday, police and immigration officials descended on a warehouse in Alrode, Alberton, resulting in the arrest of three foreign nationals found to be in South Africa illegally. The multi-agency operation, conducted at 12:15 on 5 December, involved the Ekurhuleni Tactical Response Team, Brixton Detectives, the Provincial Investigation Unit, and Home Affairs Immigration Officers. During the raid, officers inspected documents of workers on site. Three men were detained after failing to produce valid permits or passports: - Ashok Basti (Dubai passport V7597594) - Dinanath Vishvakarma (passport S5585682) - Kishori Maharajganj (passport R2506560) The trio is currently being held at Alberton SAPS and will be handed over to the Department of Home Affairs for deportation processing and further investigation into possible trafficking links. Authorities have described the warehouse raid as directly connected to the ongoing human trafficking case. The Gauteng Provincial Investigation Unit is leading the probe and says additional arrests and searches are likely as new evidence emerges. Neither Nishant Jain nor Velocity Capital Management has issued a public statement at this stage. The investigation remains active and is expected to widen in the coming days.

Horrendous. Heartbreaking news from Amsterdam. Is this what we have become? Modern day pogrom as we are remembering Kristallnacht. I am in Texas and it is middle of the night here as I write. Friends from Europe are texting and calling me about the horrendous situation in Amsterdam. In the night of November 7 in Amsterdam there were widespread and terrible raids on Jewish people. After the soccer game Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv, large groups of radical moslims violently attacked Jews, injured them, ran over them with cars… 💔 How is this possible? Why did it take the police so long to get there ? Even on European soil we fail to protect human dignity. Is this what we have become ? It's just terrible! Revolting! Imagine you are Jewish. And you know this: as soon as you walk out of your house to go running, go grocery shopping, go to school or to the synagogue, this can happen to you. How would you feel? I spoke about this situation of terrible discriminations this week in parliament. Worrying about antisemitism is not an exaggeration. Fighting it is our responsibility. The Dutch local government has failed. My thoughts are with the victims. I am furious with the Dutch local government. This is what we have become. Because we have forgotten that this violence is still possible if we are not honest, vigilant and decisive. If people who live in Europe are capable of this horrible attacks, it says a lot about how europe failed to impose its values even on its own soil. And there are still people who will think speaking of hatred against jewish people is an exaggeration. It is not. This is the week of the Kristallnacht commemorations. October 7 was until now the Kristallnacht of our time. November 7 must be the last one. Assita Kanko
